Article Abstract

Introduction: Eight members of the International Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Society Tic and Tourette Syndrome Study Group formed a subcommittee to discuss further barriers to practice guideline implementation. Based on expert opinion and literature review, the consensus was that practice variations continue to be quite broad and that many barriers in different clinical settings might negatively influence the adoption of the American Academy of Neurology and the European Society for the Study of Tourette Syndrome published guidelines.

Objectives: 1) To identify how clinical practices diverge from the existing American Academy of Neurology and European Society for the Study of Tourette Syndrome guidelines, and 2) to identify categories of barriers leading to these clinical care gaps.

Methods And Analysis: This article presents the methodology of a planned cross-sectional survey amongst healthcare professionals routinely involved in the clinical care of patients with persistent tic disorders, aimed at 1) identifying how practices diverge from the published guidelines; and 2) identifying categories of barriers leading to these clinical care gaps. Purposeful sampling methods are used to identify and recruit critical persistent tic disorders stakeholders. The analysis will use descriptive statistics.

Tourette Syndrome (TS) and Persistent Tic Disorder (PTD) are childhood-onset neuropsychiatric conditions with high heritability. Due to current sample size limitations, identifying TS/PTD risk genes has been challenging. This study addressed this issue by conducting a meta-analysis of microarray copy number variant (CNV) studies from three TS/PTD genomics consortia, supplemented with new data from 3,291 cases.

In the ICD-10 the developmental disorders are categorized under three different chapters: F7 for mental retardation, F8 for developmental disorders and F9 for disorders with onset in childhood and adolescence. In ICD-11 neurodevelopmental disorders represent the first new main classification group. The disorders grouped in these categories are all characterized by essentially genetically related atypical patterns of perception, emotional processing, cognition (general and social), language and motor skills.

Nitroaniline herbicides are widely used to combat broadleaf weeds, yet their high toxicity and persistence raise serious environmental and health concerns. Effective and sensitive detection of these herbicides in complex matrices such as soil is therefore crucial. In this study, a novel pyrene-modified carbon nanodot (4) was developed and used as a fluorescence nanosensor for the sensitive detection of nitroaniline herbicides in soil samples.

Introduction: Tic spectrum disorders-Gilles de la Tourette's syndrome (GTS) and Persistent (Chronic) Motor Tic Disorder (CMTD)-are neurodevelopmental conditions characterized by recurrent motor and/or vocal tics persisting for at least 1 year. While tics are the primary symptom, pain related to tics is an important yet often overlooked aspect of these disorders. Pain can result from the repetitive nature of tics, leading to muscle strain, joint stress, or even injury due to the forceful execution of movements.

Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a rare immune-mediated fibro-inflammatory condition that can affect nearly any organ, with breast involvement (IgG4-related sclerosing mastitis, IgG4-RM) being exceptionally uncommon. This disease primarily affects middle-aged to elderly women and is frequently misdiagnosed as malignancy due to non-specific clinical and imaging features. We report a case of a 44-year-old woman with a painless right breast mass showing hypoechoic ultrasound findings and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) characteristics, including a high ADC value and homogeneous enhancement with a persistent time-intensity curve (TIC).
