Background: Individuals diagnosed with Fanconi anemia (FA) present an incidence of 500- to 700-fold higher to develop head and neck squamous carcinomas (HNSCCs) compared to the general population. Effective anticancer treatments for FA-HNSCCs are missing. Several studies demonstrated that FA-HNSCCs overexpress the epithelial growth factor receptor (EGFR) and their viability is highly dependent on this pathway, as FA-HNSCCs cells are highly sensitive to EGFR inhibitors such as afatinib in preclinical models, which led to an orphan drug designation by EMA in 2018.

Rationale: Negative affect is a key factor in Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) associated with craving and relapse risk that is insufficiently treated by approved medications. Cannabidiol (CBD) has shown promising effects on negative affect, indicating its potential for addressing the neurocircuitry underlying negative affect in AUD.

Objectives: This study investigates CBD's effects on neural response to negative emotional stimuli and subjective alcohol craving in individuals with AUD.

The Computational Genomics and Bioinformatics Branch, Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology, National Cancer Institute, Rockville, Maryland, United States of America.

Background: The Cancer Immune Monitoring and Analysis Centers - Cancer Immunologic Data Center (CIMAC-CIDC) network aims to improve cancer immunotherapy by providing harmonized molecular assays and standardized bioinformatics analysis.

Results: In response to evolving bioinformatics standards and the migration of the CIDC to the National Cancer Institute (NCI), we undertook the enhancement of the CIDC's extant whole exome sequencing (WES) and RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) pipelines. Leveraging open-source tools and cloud-based technologies, we implemented modular workflows using Snakemake and Docker for efficient deployment on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Background: Accelerating orthodontic treatment is crucial in reducing complications such as root resorption, caries, and oral hygiene compromise, especially in adults. Piezocision and corticotomy are surgical techniques that accelerate tooth movement by causing bone remodelling. This study compares and evaluates changes in Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) levels in gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) following piezocision and corticotomy-facilitated orthodontics in adults.

Background: This prospective, open-label, single-arm, multicenter phase IV study (NCT04774926) evaluated early imaging parameters as predictors of long-term fluid resolution and assessed the efficacy and safety of brolucizumab in treatment-naïve patients with wet age-related macular degeneration (wAMD) in a real-world Italian setting.

Patients And Methods: A total of 122 patients aged ≥ 50 years with subfoveal macular neovascularization secondary to wAMD were enrolled. All patients were anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF)- and investigational treatment-naïve.
