Light-driven inward proton pump rhodopsin XeR was embedded in pH-sensitive liposomes. Substance release from the proteoliposomes was observed following light illumination both and in cells, indicating the successful production of light-induced disruptive liposomes (LiDL). Thus, LiDL is a photoswitchable carrier utilized for intracellular substance delivery.

Purpose: Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are extensively used across various devices and applications. However, the effects of prolonged or excessive exposure to white and blue LED light on the retina remain inadequately understood.
Methods: This study investigated the impact of such exposure over 14 weeks on retinal structural and morphological changes and the potential protective effect of nesfatin-1 (N1) administered subcutaneously (0.

Transposable elements (TEs) contribute to genomic adaptation but are typically silenced to maintain genome integrity. In this study, we investigated TE activation in a Chlamydomonas reinhardtii mutant deficient in DE-ETIOLATED1 (DET1). This mutant was originally identified for its enhanced high-light tolerance due to constitutive nonphotochemical quenching (NPQ).

Light is the fundamental Zeitgeber aligning sleep and circadian physiology. Here, we rigorously challenged this system by exposing male and female Drosophila melanogaster to constant light or fragmented photoperiods, modeling chronic circadian disruption. All protocols markedly reduced sleep quantity and stability, with females exhibiting pronounced vulnerability in sleep consolidation and locomotor control.

In discussing the interplay between light exposure/blue light exposure (LE/BLE) and circadian health, we emphasize the role of light hygiene and its effects on maintaining sleep, mood, and metabolic health, among other physiological processes. We define compromised circadian light hygiene as low dynamic range and/or irregular 24-hour patterns of LE. Poor light hygiene interferes with circadian entrainment and weakens circadian robustness alignment, thereby increasing health hazards.

ConspectusVisible-light-mediated photoredox catalysis, rejuvenated by David MacMillan in 2008 following the early work by Richard Kellogg and Shunichi Fukuzumi on photosensitized reactions, has been used as an efficient strategy to carry out complex organic synthesis under mild reaction conditions. The main motivation for using visible-light during selective photoredox transformations is to minimize the use of high-energy and chemically disruptive UV-photons, thereby mimicking natural photosynthesis. Transition metal-based photosensitizers with substantial visible-light absorption cross sections and long triplet excited-state lifetimes have been successfully used to efficiently drive such light-mediated chemical transformations in organic solvents.
