Article Abstract

The current study focuses on the recovery of quiescent optical solitons through the use of the complex Ginzburg-Landau equation when the chromatic dispersion is rendered to be nonlinear. A dozen forms of self-phase modulation structures are taken into consideration. The utilization of the enhanced Kudryashov's scheme has led to the emergence of singular, dark, and bright soliton solutions. The existence of such solitons is subject to certain parametric restrictions, which are also discussed in this paper.

Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic response to corticosteroids (CS), conventional immunosuppressants (IS) and biotherapies in patients with birdshot retinochoroidopathy (BSCR).

Methods: retrospective observational monocentric cohort study of 44 patients (87 eyes) with BSCR. We evaluated the therapeutic response between 4 and 12 months for venous vasculitis, capillary leakage, choroiditis and macular edema for the different therapeutic lines in each treated eye, a total of 225 evaluations.

Out of the Niche: A Bird's-Eye View of the Molecular Networks Controlling Root Stem Cells.

The capacity of plants to generate new organs and tissues throughout their life cycle depends on the activity of the stem cells contained in meristematic tissues. Plant stem cells are organized in small, clustered populations referred to as stem cell niches. In addition to generating new undifferentiated cells, stem cell niches also provide the positional information that maintains stem cell self-renewal properties and controls the non-cell-autonomous differentiation of surrounding tissues.

Phasic REM: Across Night Behavior and Transitions to Wake.

Background/objectives: Rapid eye movements (REMs) during sleep were initially associated with dreaming, suggesting a relationship between REMs and dream content; however, this hypothesis was questioned by their differences with the REMs during wakefulness and the evidence that REMs are also present in blind individuals with no visual dreaming. Successive studies have focused on the phenomenology and physiological significance of REMs during sleep. REMs are categorized as expressions of the phasic REM component, which is characterized by bursts of eye movements, whereas the tonic REM component is characterized by quiescent periods without eye movements.

In this letter, we put forward the light sheet fluorescence microscopy (LSFM) as a cutting-edge tool for 3D imaging of whole skeletal muscle, focusing on satellite cells (SCs). SCs represent the resident adult muscle stem cells, normally lying quiescent between the sarcolemma of the myofiber and the surrounding basal lamina. They typically express Pax-7 and, when activated following damage, they sequentially express specific myogenic regulatory factors including the myogenic determination factor, MyoD, thus starting differentiation towards multinucleated myofibers to repair injured tissue.

Objective: The developing mammalian retina initially contains undifferentiated cells, providing a model for investigating the mechanisms of differentiation. Notch signaling, mediated by four Notch receptors (Notch 1-4) in mammals, has been studied in the differentiation of neural progenitor cells. Among the four Notch receptors, the frequency, rather than the peak level, of Notch1-mediated signaling has been suggested to promote the activation of neural progenitor cells.
