It is expected that human iPS cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-CMs) can be used to treat serious heart diseases. However, the properties and functions of human adult cardiomyocytes and hiPSC-CMs, including cell maturation, differ. In this study, we focused on the temperature dependence of hiPSC-CMs by integrating the temperature regulation system into our sensor platform, which can directly and quantitatively measure their mechanical motion. We measured the beating frequency of hiPSC-CMs at different environmental temperatures and found that the beating frequency increased as the temperature increased. Although the rate at which the beating frequency increased with temperature varied, the temperature at which the beating stopped was relatively stable at approximately 20 °C. The stopping of beating at this temperature was stable, even in immature hiPSC-CMs, and was considered to be a primitive property of cardiomyocytes.

Background: Limited evidence exists on the additive risk of bradycardia in children with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) bronchiolitis receiving dexmedetomidine (DMED). We aim to study the association between RSV bronchiolitis and bradycardia during DMED administration.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study included 273 children under 2 years old admitted to the intensive care units at Boston Children's Hospital with severe bronchiolitis and sedated with DMED from 2009 to 2022.

Background: Microwave Doppler sensors, capable of detecting minute physiological movements, enable the measurement of biometric information, such as walking patterns, heart rate, and respiration. Unlike fingerprint and facial recognition systems, they offer authentication without physical contact or privacy concerns. This study focuses on non-contact seismocardiography using microwave Doppler sensors and aims to apply this technology for biometric authentication.

While many European countries have made significant progress in reducing incidence and mortality, Romania continues to report the highest rates within the European Union. This narrative review synthesized data from PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and Google Scholar to evaluate cervical cancer screening policies across Europe, with a particular focus on Romania.

Radial spokes, RS1, RS2, and RS3, are T-shaped, multiprotein complexes that transmit regulatory signals from the central apparatus to outer doublet complexes, including dynein arms. Radial spokes, especially RS3, differ in their morphology, protein composition, and RS base-docked IDAs. Spokes' defects alter cilia beating frequency, waveform, and amplitude, leading, in humans, to primary ciliary dyskinesia and male infertility.

The enjoyment of music can be severely disrupted when instruments or voices are out of tune with each other. Both hearing loss and aging may degrade pitch perception, potentially affecting the ability to detect mistuning. For younger listeners with normal hearing, mistuning perception in music relies on both beats (amplitude fluctuations between closely spaced frequency components) and inharmonicity (non-integer frequency relationships between components from different sources).
