Article Abstract

Chitosan based monodisperse poly[chitosan-N-isopropylmethacrylamide-acrylic acid] [P(CNA)] microgels were produced via precipitation polymerization. Resulting crosslinked P(CNA) micro particles were used as micro-reactors to prepare silver nanoparticles within the polymeric network by chemical reduction of Ag ions with sodium borohydride. Various techniques including transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy were used to analyze P(CNA) microgels and Ag-P(CNA) hybrid microgels. Catalytic potential of Ag-P(CNA) hybrid system towards individual and simultaneous reduction of various nitroarenes like p-nitrophenol (pNP), o-nitrophenol (oNP), p-nitroaniline (pNA) and o-nitroaniline (oNA) into corresponding aminoarenes using sodium borohydride as a reductant in aqueous medium was evaluated. The catalytic activity of Ag-P(CNA) system towards both the individual and simultaneous reduction of nitroarenes was examined at various concentrations of catalyst. The values of pseudo first order rate constant (k) for reduction of individual nitroarene and multiple nitroarenes were determined for comparison. The Ag-P(CNA) hybrid microgel system was found to be stable, economical and efficient catalyst for rapid individual and simultaneous reduction of nitroarenes.

Image deblurring and compression-artifact removal are both ill-posed inverse problems in low-level vision tasks. So far, although numerous image deblurring and compression-artifact removal methods have been proposed respectively, the research for explicit handling blur and compression-artifact coexisting degradation image (BCDI) is rare. In the BCDI, image contents will be damaged more seriously, especially for edges and texture details.

Bimorph soft actuators, traditionally composed of two materials with distinct responses to external stimuli, often face durability challenges due to structural incompatibility. Here, we propose an alternative design employing free-standing, isostructural heterogeneous Janus (IHJ) films that harmonize stability with high actuation efficiency. These IHJ films were fabricated through a vacuum self-assembly process, consisting of TiCT MXene nanosheets and hybrid graphene oxide (GO)-biomass bacterial cellulose (BC), with a well-matched two-dimensional lattice structure.

Precisely structured nanoclusters provide ideal platforms for elucidating structural evolution and structure-activity relationships. However, mechanistic understanding of dynamic core-shell rearrangements has long been impeded by the elusive nature of intermediates during transformation processes. Here, we show that ligand engineering-driven asymmetric thiolate exchange enables atomic-level visualization of structural evolution, thereby overcoming the long-standing challenge of intermediate capture.

Animals communicate information primarily via their calls, and directly using their vocalizations proves essential for executing species conservation and tracking biodiversity. Conventional visual approaches are frequently limited by distance and surroundings, while call-based monitoring concentrates solely on the animals themselves, proving more effective and straightforward than visual techniques. This paper introduces an animal sound classification model named SeqFusionNet, integrating the sequential encoding of Transformer with the global perception of MLP to achieve robust global feature extraction.

In the paper we consider the well-known Influence Maximization (IM) and Target Set Selection (TSS) problems for Boolean networks under Deterministic Linear Threshold Model (DLTM). The main novelty of our paper is that we state these problems in the context of pseudo-Boolean optimization and solve them using evolutionary algorithms in combination with the known greedy heuristic. We also propose a new variant of (1 + 1)-Evolutionary Algorithm, which is designed to optimize a fitness function on the subset of the Boolean hypercube comprised of vectors of a fixed Hamming weight.
