Article Abstract

Background: Reconstruction of facial defects is often challenging and is dependent on numerous factors including size of the defect, availability of donor site, any existing scar, patient's consent, prognosis, etc. There are various reconstruction modalities highlighted in the literature with their inherent merits and demerits. Considering the versatility of nasolabial flap, we present a case series of different facial defects where nasolabial flap has been used successfully for reconstruction.

Case Reports: Three patients with different disease process in three different areas of face were reported. All underwent wide local excision and reconstruction with nasolabial flap. The result obtained was esthetically pleasing with minimal donor site morbidity.

Conclusion: Nasolabial flap is a versatile flap and can be effectively used for reconstruction of small to moderate facial defects over any other flaps.

Rationale: Primary polydipsia refers to excessive water intake due to psychogenic or non-psychogenic causes without being secondary to conditions such as hyperglycemia or renal dysfunction. Most cases of primary polydipsia are psychogenic in nature, with few cases of non-psychogenic primary polydipsia reported in the literature. In this case, the patient's excessive water intake appeared to be influenced by both psychogenic and non-psychogenic factors.

With the rapid development of industrial automation and intelligent manufacturing, defect detection of electronic products has become crucial in the production process. Traditional defect detection methods often face the problems of insufficient accuracy and inefficiency when dealing with complex backgrounds, tiny defects, and multiple defect types. To overcome these problems, this paper proposes Y-MaskNet, a multi-task joint learning framework based on YOLOv5 and Mask R-CNN, which aims to improve the accuracy and efficiency of defect detection and segmentation in electronic products.

Introduction: Complex soft tissue injuries in the facial area can arise from various causes. Surgeons face significant challenges when reconstructing these injuries, as they must select appropriate materials based on texture and color, while also considering their composition and properties. The anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap has emerged as a versatile option in clinical reconstructive surgery, offering many advantages over other free flaps.

Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), particularly in older adults aged 60 years and above, present significant therapeutic challenges due to poor prognosis and limited treatment options. Higher-risk MDS (HR-MDS), defined by the Revised International Prognostic Scoring System score of ⩾3.5, is characterized by increased myeloblasts, severe cytopenia, and a median survival of <2 years.
