The discovery of new bioactivities is closely related to the generation of novel scaffolds, and in the past few years different strategies have been proposed to obtain unknown architectures from the manipulation of known compounds. In the present study, we exploited a vintage photochemical approach for the discovery of an unexpected pathway of reactivity related to Δ-3-oxo-pentacyclic triterpenic acids gaining access to a new class of natural-unnatural 5(10→1)-pentacyclic triterpenic acids.

The precise and selective determination of ginsenosides, pharmacologically diverse saponins abundant in Panax species, is crucial for their therapeutic development and stringent quality control. However, inherent challenges, including their weak ultraviolet absorption and the high polarity imparted by sugar moieties, complicate their determination. Addressing these limitations, this study introduces the first-time construction and application of a boronate affinity dendritic mesoporous silica nanomaterial (BA-DMSN) as a highly efficient adsorbent for ginsenoside pretreatment.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is closely linked with obesity and associated metabolic dysfunctions, including insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and chronic inflammation. Pentacyclic triterpene acids (PTAs) derived from are promising bioactive compounds that may help mitigate these disorders. This study investigated the effects of a PTA-rich fraction on metabolic disruptions in cellular and diet-induced obesity mouse models.

Rosemary () is renowned for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antihyperglycemic properties, largely attributed to its rich phytochemical profile. This study evaluates the potential of metabolites from NFV3, formulated in silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), to enhance the bioactivity of rosemary extracts in postharvest applications. Rosemary stems were treated with AgNPs coated with bacterial metabolites (NP), bacterial cells, or metabolites (LM), and the extracts' phytochemical composition and bioactivities were assessed.

Background: Panax ginseng is a perennial plant valued for its medicinal and nutritional properties. Its fruit contains a variety of bioactive compounds such as ginsenosides, flavonoids, phenolic acids, and anthocyanins. However, the regulatory mechanisms underlying the accumulation of these compounds during fruit development remain largely unexplored.
