Purpose: This feasibility study focusses on the implementation and use of a decision aid, which supports vocational rehabilitation (VR) professionals in helping clients with a disability pension return to work in practice. The decision aid shows an overview of the clients' return to work barriers and suggests suitable VR interventions based on these barriers.
Methods: The study population consisted of VR professionals working at the Dutch Social Security Institute and their clients receiving a (partial) work disability pension. The feasibility was measured with concepts of the Linnan and Steckler framework and the attitude, social norm and self-efficacy model. Data were collected using questionnaires, checklists and qualitative interviews.
Results: Ten professionals participated in this study. Fifty-four clients were asked to fill in the questionnaire of the decision aid and 32 clients received VR care based on the decision aid. In general, VR professionals and clients were satisfied with the decision aid and perceived a few barriers for using the decision aid.
Conclusions: This study showed that it is feasible to implement and use the decision aid. To improve the implementation of this decision aid, it should be implemented in digital systems used by professionals to improve efficiency of working with the decision aid.

Objectives: Salvage endoscopic therapy is increasingly recommended for localized, superficial failure at the primary site after chemoradiotherapy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. This multicenter retrospective study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes and prognostic factors associated with overall survival in patients who underwent salvage endoscopic therapy for cT1N0M0 local failure after chemoradiotherapy or radiotherapy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed patients with cT1N0M0 local failure after chemoradiotherapy or radiotherapy who underwent endoscopic resection or photodynamic therapy using talaporfin sodium at two Japanese institutions between 2012 and 2021.

Background: Making informed decisions about clinical trial participation can be overwhelming for patients due to the complexity of trial information, potential risks and benefits, and the emotional burden of a recent diagnosis. Patient decision aids (PDAs) simplify this process by providing clear information on treatment options, empowering patients to actively participate in shared decision-making with their doctors. While PDAs have shown promise in various health care contexts, their use in clinical trials, particularly in the form of trial-specific patient decision aids (tPDAs), remains underused.

Introduction: Roundabouts are increasingly being used to improve traffic flow and reduce conflict points compared to traditional intersections. While previous studies have generally shown that roundabouts reduce vehicle collisions and improve traffic conditions, their impact on pedestrian safety, particularly in urban areas with high pedestrian traffic, has not been adequately studied. Despite the potential of roundabouts to reduce the overall severity of collisions, recent studies also point to specific safety challenges for pedestrians, including the difficulties faced by slow-moving people, changes in pedestrian behavior when avoiding roundabouts, and problems with disabled pedestrians are faced with.

Cardiovascular disease remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, with conventional management often applying standardised approaches that struggle to address individual variability in increasingly complex patient populations. Computational models, both knowledge-driven and data-driven, have the potential to reshape cardiovascular medicine by offering innovative tools that integrate patient-specific information with physiological understanding or statistical inference to generate insights beyond conventional diagnostics. This review traces how computational modelling has evolved from theoretical research tools into clinical decision support systems that enable personalised cardiovascular care.

Balancing socio-economic development with environmental quality in estuaries requires reliable tools for ecological assessment and informed management. Although various biological and (geo)chemical indices have been formulated to evaluate ecological quality status (EcoQS), transitional systems such as estuaries remain challenging to assess due to steep natural gradients and intense anthropogenic pressures, which can compromise the effectiveness of conventional indices. This study applied a practical, multi-criteria sediment assessment to evaluate benthic EcoQS in the Sado estuary, SW Portugal - a socio-ecological system strongly influenced by human activity.
