Background: Yellow fever virus (YFV) remains a re-emerging zoonotic threat in South America. While epizootics in free-ranging spp. are well-documented, little is known about YFV infection in other Neotropical non-human primates (NHPs), particularly in captive settings.

Introduction: Dexamethasone is routinely prescribed for the management of peritumoral edema in brain tumor patients. Despite available orientations for its management in neuro-oncology patients, the individual needs according to the natural history of the disease and treatment options allied to a hierarchical system with multiple teams involved poses significant challenges in its real-world application.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective single-centre observational study of 316 brain tumor referrals to a tertiary neurosurgical center over a 3-month period.

Introduction: Controversy persists regarding the use of pericardial effusion drainage in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), as several studies report high rates of post-procedure morbidity and mortality.

Methods: We conducted a systematic review to evaluate the safety of pericardiocentesis (PC) in patients with PAH and a large or hemodynamically significant pericardial effusion. We focused on studies involving patients with PAH who presented with a large or hemodynamically significant pericardial effusion and underwent PH.

Introduction: Consuming foods rich in bioactive compounds can delay chronic non-communicable diseases. Dragon fruit, known for its bioactive compounds with typically low bioavailability-attributed to high polarity, poor permeability, and rapid firstpass metabolism-benefits from strategies like encapsulation to enhance efficacy.

Methods: This study developed and assessed phytosomes loaded with dragon fruit extract (Hylocereus costaricensis) and compared their biological activity and against the raw extract.

Study Design: Retrospective cohort study.

Objective: Due to proximity of the surgical site to important respiratory structures, patients may undergo delayed extubation after adult cervical deformity (ACD) surgery to manage postoperative airway edema/obstruction. Herein, we evaluate relevant relationships with delayed extubation.
