Introduction: Accurate diagnosis of subscapularis tears remains challenging due to the limitations of physical examinations and imaging techniques. Therefore, specific radiological parameters have been proposed as predictors of atraumatic subscapularis tears to improve diagnostic sensitivity and accuracy. These parameters include coracohumeral distance (CHD), coracoglenoid angle (CGA), coracoid angle (CA), coracoid overlap (CO), and coracohumeral angle (CHA).

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the radiological-functional outcomes and rotator cuff (RC) status following humeral intramedullary nailing (IMN), comparing the anterolateral standard approach (group 1) and the percutaneous antero-acromial approach (group 2).

Methods: This observational prospective monocentric study was conducted from August 2021 to March 2023. Inclusion criteria included: two-parts proximal (surgical neck) and diaphyseal Humeral fractures treated with IMN; 12-month follow-up; age between 18 and 85 years; good performance status (excluding neurologic deficits or mental disorders).

Enteric (typhoid and paratyphoid) fever.

Lancet

September 2025

Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health, Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford, Oxford, UK; Department of Clinical Sciences, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, Liverpool. Electronic address:

Enteric fever, caused by the human-restricted bacteria Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi (typhoid) and Salmonella enterica serovar Paratyphi A, B, and C (paratyphoid), affects persons residing in, or travelling from, areas lacking safe water, sanitation, and hygiene infrastructure. Transmission is by the faecal-oral route. A gradual fever onset over 3-7 days with malaise, headache, and myalgia is typical.

The effect of human bone morphology on sawing forces.

J Mech Behav Biomed Mater

September 2025

Department of Biomechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering Technology, University of Twente, Enschede, 7522 NB, the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Electronic address:

In orthopaedic surgical procedures, bone cutting is often performed with an oscillating saw. Achieving an optimal cut requires high accuracy, low temperature, minimal surgeon effort, and time efficiency, all of which may be influenced by the forces applied on the sawing device, and the microstructure of the cut bone. The relation between bovine bone microstructure and sawing forces has been studied.

Purpose: To identify factors that contribute to the speed of angular correction in skeletally immature patients with genu varum treated with paraphyseal tension band plates, hypothesizing that screw length and divergence, severity of deformity, and underlying pathology influence the rate and speed of genu varum correction.

Methods: Fifty-three patients (38 males, 15 females) undergoing genu varum correction were included; a total of 138 physes (64 distal femur, 74 proximal tibia) were assessed. The median age at surgery was 37.
