Bacillus species act as plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) that can produce a large number of bioactive metabolites. Bacillaene, a linear polyketide/nonribosomal peptide produced by Bacillus strains, is synthesized by the trans-acyltransferase polyketide synthetase. The complexity of the chemical structure, particularity of biosynthesis, potent bioactivity, and the important role of competition make Bacillus an ideal antibiotic weapon to resist other microbes and maintain the optimal rhizosphere environment. This review provides an updated view of the structural features, biological activity, biosynthetic regulators of biosynthetic pathways, and the important competitive role of bacillaene during Bacillus survival.

Alkaline pectinases are in demand in industrial processes that require the degradation of plant pectins at high pH, for example, removal of pectin stains from fabrics, cutlery, and porcelain; treatment of pectic wastewater; fermentation of coffee, tea, and cocoa; manufacture of poultry and animal feeds, and processing of textiles, and so forth. The present study aimed to (a) screen four alkaliphilic microbial isolates, previously obtained from samples collected around Lake Bogoria (soda lake), Baringo County, Kenya, for alkaline pectinases, and (b) characterize the pectinase-producers. The screening data revealed that all the isolates were pectinase producers, exhibiting catalytic activities that ranged from 1.

High-temperature Daqu (HTD), an essential fermentation starter in sauce-aroma Baijiu, is characterized by complex microbial communities that vary significantly across production regions. Traditional HTD production faces challenges in consistency and quality control, hindering industrial scalability. This study compared 54 synthetic microbial communities (SynMC)-fortified HTD samples with 39 traditional HTD samples from core production regions, which are Renhuai, Luzhou, and Jinsha, respectively, to elucidate their microbial and metabolic profiles.

Background: Southern corn leaf blight (SCLB), caused by Cochliobolus heterostrophus, is a major disease that severely affects maize production globally, especially in tropical and subtropical regions. Conventional control strategies, such as chemical fungicides and resistant cultivars, are limited due to environmental and health concerns.
Results: This study explores Bacillus velezensis JLU-55 as a potential biological control agent against C.

As the world's largest producer of kiwifruit, China faces significant yield and quality losses due to the widespread occurrence of kiwifruit root rot. To explore alternative biological control strategies for kiwifruit root rot, this study isolated 11 fungal isolates from diseased kiwifruit roots and identified as the primary pathogen. Additionally, a biocontrol strain, C3, was isolated from the rhizosphere of healthy kiwifruit and shown to significantly inhibit pathogen growth.

Unlabelled: Green tea is one of the most widely drunk beverages globally; It is made from the processed leaves of the green shrub . The background study focused on the contained catechins and their hydrolysis by tannase-producing KMS2-2 strains were investigated. Tannin acyl-hydrolase is an inducible enzyme extensively used in the food industry.
