Background And Aim: Pulse field ablation (PFA) has emerged as a safe alternative to other catheter ablation energy sources for patients. Although early results are encouraging, secondary data about outcomes are lacking. Herein, we aimed to assess the safety and efficacy of the novel technique.
Methods: We searched PubMed, Ovid, Google Scholar, Web of Science, and Scopus databases and several major scientific conferences for studies reporting results regarding PFA.
Results: Sixteen studies were included, reporting 485 patients with atrial fibrillation who underwent pulsed field operations. Patients averaged 60 years of age. The total duration of the procedure is 94 min. The average Fluoro procedure takes 17 min. Isolation of all pulmonary veins was 100% with a 95% confidence interval (CI) ( > 0.05). Overall, the recurrence rate of arrhythmia in the participants was 2.84% (95% CI) ( > 0.05). Complications were detected during or after the PFA procedure at a rate of 2.23% ( < 0.05), with 95% CI indicating the high safety of the PFA procedure.
Conclusion: Using pulsed-field ablation as a new treatment for atrial fibrillation has proven safe and effective.

Introduction: Fluoroless mapping and ablation using a Pentaspline pulsed field ablation catheter has many advantages. This can be achieved using a "tripolar configuration," which enables high-quality electroanatomical maps, improves the ability to localize electrograms (EGMs), and minimizes the use of additional mapping catheters compared to the standard bipolar configuration. We aimed to evaluate the benefits of using a tripolar configuration in fluoroless atrial fibrillation ablation compared to the standard bipolar configuration.

High-intensity, external electric fields (HIEF) have been used in research and therapy for abnormal generation/propagation of the cardiac electrical activity (e.g., defibrillation), and for promoting access of membrane-impermeant molecules into the cytosol through electropores.

Extensive peripheral nerve injuries often lead to the loss of neurological function due to slow regeneration and limited recovery over large gaps. Current clinical interventions, such as nerve guidance conduits (NGCs), face challenges in creating biomimetic microenvironments that effectively support nerve repair. The developed GrooveNeuroTube is composed of hyaluronic acid methacrylate and gelatin methacrylate hydrogel, incorporating active agents (growth factors and antibacterial agents) encapsulated within an NGC conduit made of 3D-printed PCL grid fibers.

Clinical trials of the photovoltaic subretinal prosthesis PRIMA demonstrated feasibility of prosthetic central vision with resolution matching its 100 μm pixel width. To improve prosthetic acuity further, pixel size should be decreased. However, there are multiple challenges, one of which is related to accommodating a compact shunt resistor within each pixel that discharges the electrodes between stimulation pulses and helps increase the contrast of the electric field pattern.
