Blue fluorescent carbon dots (PCDs) were prepared by hydrothermal method with Partridge tea. The ethanol extract of Partridge tea (PEE) was found to emit red fluorescence. Thus, a novel ratiometric sensor was constructed by simply mixing the two fluorophores derived from Partridge tea. The presence of tetracycline (TET) at lower concentrations enhanced the emission peak at 508 nm of PCDs and had a negligible effect on the emission peak at 680 nm of PEE. TET at higher concentrations led to quenching both the fluorescence of PCDs and PEE via inner filter effect and fluorescence resonance energy transfer, separately. Good linearities for the detection of TET were obtained in the ranges 0.67 to 15.00 μM and 33.33 to 266.67 μM, with limit of detection of 0.095 μM. The sensor was successfully applied to detect TET in lake water and milk samples with good recoveries ranging from 93.27 ± 4.04% to 107.30 ± 6.16%. This study provided a simple, selective, sensitive, rapid, and environmentally friendly method of monitoring TET residues in the environment and food.

Partridge tea has high medicinal value due to its rich content of terpenoids, phenols, flavonoids, and other related bioactive components. In order to study the best drying method for partridge tea, four treatments, including outdoor sun drying (OD), indoor shade drying (ID), hot-air drying (HAD), and low-temperature freeze-drying (LTD), were performed. The results showed that the OD and HAD treatments favored the retention of the red color of their products, while the ID and LTD treatments were more favorable for the retention of the green color.

Iron-rich porcelains generally embrace relatively high iron concentration in the glaze and body, which have an important position in the history of ancient Chinese high-temperature ceramics. The colour and lustre of glaze patterns are closely related to the orientation and order of crystallisation. In this work, three representative types of iron-rich porcelains (persimmon red-glazed sample, oil spot-glazed sample and mirror black-glazed sample) were analysed by portable energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence (PXRF), optical coherence tomography (OCT), optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and laser Raman spectroscopy (RS) to determine the morphology, chemical composition and microstructure.
