Efficient mixing and thermal control are important in the flow reactor for obtaining a high product yield and selectivity. Here, we report a heterogeneous chemical kinetic study of propene oxidation within a newly designed catalytic jet-stirred reactor (CJSR). To better understand the interplay between the catalytic performances and properties, the CuO thin films have been characterized and the adsorbed energies of propene on the adsorbed and lattice oxygen were calculated using density functional theory (DFT) method. Structure and morphology analyses revealed a monoclinic structure with nano-crystallite size and porous microstructure, which is responsible for holding an important quantity of adsorbed oxygen. The residence time inside the flow CJSR (1.12-7.84 s) makes it suitable for kinetic study and gives guidance for scale-up. The kinetic study revealed that using CJSR the reaction rate increases with O concentration that is commonly not achievable for catalytic flow tube reactor, whereas the reaction rate tends to increase slightly above 30% of O due to the catalyst surface saturation. Moreover, DFT calculations demonstrated that adsorbed oxygen is the most involved oxygen, and it has found that the pathway of producing propene oxide makes the reaction of CH over CuO surface more likely to proceed. Accordingly, these findings revealed that CJSR combined with theoretical calculation is suitable for kinetic study, which can pave the way to investigate the kinetic study of other exhaust gases.

Background: Tecovirimat (TPOXX) is an antiviral authorized for the treatment of mpox infections in Canada, but recent clinical trials found it has no impact on symptom duration.
Methods: We conducted a prospective cohort study of individuals diagnosed with mpox in Toronto, Canada. Skin lesion swabs were collected weekly to quantify infectious monkeypox virus (MPXV) shedding through cell culture.

Pax-5a gene, as a nucleic acid biomarker closely associated with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL), holds significant potential for early disease diagnosis. In this study, we developed a highly accurate and efficient "on-super on-off" photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensor based on a dual-photoelectrode heterojunction system integrated with a multisphere cascade DNA amplification strategy. The designed heterojunction dual-photoelectrode platform, comprising a InO/CdS photoanode (on state) and an in situ-formed MIL-68(In)/InO (MIO) photocathode, effectively extends the electron-hole transport pathway, enhances photogenerated charge separation, and produces high-amplitude signal output (super on state), thereby providing a robust baseline for signal transduction.

Biomolecular dynamics in the microsecond-to-millisecond (µs-ms) timescale are linked to various biological functions, such as enzyme catalysis, allosteric regulation, and ligand recognition. In solution state NMR, Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill (CPMG) relaxation dispersion experiments are commonly used to probe µs-ms timescale motions, providing detailed kinetic, thermodynamic, and mechanistic information at the atomic level. For investigating conformational dynamics in high-molecular-weight biomolecules, methyl groups serve as ideal probes due to their favorable relaxation properties, and C CPMG relaxation dispersion is widely employed for characterizing dynamics in selectively CH-labeled samples.

Chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapies have demonstrated clinical efficacy in treating haematological malignancies, resulting in multiple regulatory approvals. However, there is a need for robust manufacturing platforms and the use of GMP-aligned reagents to meet the clinical and commercial demands. This study investigates the impact of serum/xeno-free medium (SXFM) and cytokine supplementation on CAR-T cell production in static and agitated culture systems, using 24-well plate G-Rex vessels and 500 mL stirred tank bioreactors (STRs), respectively.

Hard carbon (HC) has emerged as a promising anode material for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) owing to its superior sodium storage performance. However, the high cost of conventional HC precursors remains a critical challenge. To address this, coal─a low-cost, carbon-rich precursor─has been explored for HC synthesis.
