Apples and apple-based products are particularly interesting due to being a good source of polyphenols in an everyday diet. Recently there has been increased interest in the preservation of traditional apple varieties due to studies that suggest that traditional apple varieties have a higher content of polyphenols and antioxidant activity compared to commercial varieties. This study shows that traditional apple varieties contain higher concentration of polyphenolic compounds than conventional ones, such as chlorogenic acid (1.29-456 mg/kg dw), catechin (0.70-312 mg/kg dw), epicatechin (1.75-244 mg/kg dw), procyanidin B1 + B2 (4.08-358 mg/kg dw) and quercetin-3-glucoside (0.96-231 mg/kg dw). This research underlies the great potential of traditional apple varieties as a source of natural antioxidants and polyphenolics.

Agriculture has played a pivotal role in shaping European mountain biodiversity. Traditional practices, characterized by low intensity and crop mosaics, have historically created complex, heterogeneous landscapes that supported a high biodiversity level. Agricultural intensification has turned these traditional crop systems into artificial habitats, leading to increased field sizes, habitat fragmentation, and decrease of habitat heterogeneity, contributing to the current farmland biodiversity crisis.

The clinical landscape of Gram-positive infections has been reshaped with the introduction of long-acting lipoglycopeptides, particularly dalbavancin and oritavancin. Both agents share broad-spectrum activity against multidrug-resistant pathogens, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and vancomycin-resistant strains, yet differ markedly in pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, resistance profiles, and clinical adoption. This review presents a comprehensive comparative analysis of their structural innovations, distinct pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic characteristics, and dual mechanisms of action, supported by minimum inhibitory concentration data across key pathogens.

Purpose: Methods have been developed that apply image processing to 4-Dimension computed tomography (4DCT) to generate lung ventilation (4DCT-ventilation). Traditional methods for 4DCT-ventilation rely on density-change methods and lack reproducibility and do not provide 4DCT-perfusion data. Novel 4DCT-ventilation/perfusion methods have been developed that are robust and provide 4DCT-perfusion information.

This study presents a real-time hand tracking and collision detection system for immersive mixed-reality boxing training on Apple Vision Pro (Apple Inc., Cupertino, CA, USA). Leveraging the device's advanced spatial computing capabilities, this research addresses the limitations of traditional fitness applications that lack precision for technique-based sports like boxing with visual-only hand tracking.

The tyrosinase inhibitory activity and inhibition mechanism of pyrimidine-2-thiol (PT) and pyrimidine-2,4-dithiol (PDT) were investigated. In the anti-tyrosinase activity evaluation assay, PT exhibited 2-fold stronger activity than kojic acid in the presence of L-Tyrosine and L-Dopa, and PDT showed 13 times higher activity than kojic acid, respectively. Kinetic analysis revealed PT and PDT acted as mixed inhibitors.
