Background: Mixed-phenotype acute leukemia (MPAL) is a rare acute leukemia for which data are currently not available to guide therapy. It has a poor outcome, particularly in elderly patients.
Case Presentation: We report the successful use of venetoclax/azacitidine as treatment for a treatment-naive elderly patient with early T-cell precursor (ETP)/myeloid MPAL.

The persistent mutation of the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) not only remains a threat to human health but also continues to challenge existing antiviral therapeutic strategies. In current clinical practice, the resistance of novel coronavirus to antivirals, the rebound of viral load after treatment with drugs such as nirmatrelvir/ritonavir (NTV/r), and the urgent need for rapid clearance of the virus in the management of critically and emergently ill patients suggest that the existing single-drug regimens may have limitations and that the intensity of suppression may be insufficient in some cases. In clinical practice, we have observed that a combination of antivirals with different mechanisms of action can result in better efficacy and not significantly increase adverse drug reactions (ADRs).

Background: Immunocompromised individuals, such as those affected by and treated for hematological malignancies, face a higher risk of prolonged SARS-CoV-2 infection. Increased disease risk is further compounded by limited treatment options. Currently, approved antiviral monotherapies against COVID-19 include remdesivir (Veklury) and nirmatrelvir/ritonavir (Paxlovid) which have stringent recommended prescribing windows within 7 and 5 days of symptom onset, respectively.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, nirmatrelvir/ritonavir was approved as the first per os treatment to prevent severe disease progression. This study explores patients' self-management of nirmatrelvir/r and its impact on their long-term medications, and their experience of the information provided by pharmacists and physicians. Adults receiving nirmatrelvir/r from September 2022 to March 2023 were interviewed via a semistructured telephone survey.

Background: Paxlovid, a fixed combination nirmatrelvir and ritonavir (NIM-RTV), is a potent inhibitor of cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) isoenzyme. It is approved for the treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19 infections in patients at risk for serious infection. The metabolism of tacrolimus, a CYP3A4 substrate, is significantly reduced in those receiving NIM-RTV.
