We evaluated healthcare facility use of (ICD-10) codes for culture-confirmed candidemia cases detected by active public health surveillance during 2019-2020. Most cases (56%) did not receive a candidiasis code, suggesting that studies relying on ICD-10 codes likely underestimate disease burden.

Background: has emerged as a major nosocomial pathogen in intensive care units worldwide due to its multidrug resistance, environmental persistence, and high transmission potential. While several outbreak reports exist, there remains limited comparative data on clinical features, resistance profiles, and outcomes between and non-auris Candida candidemia, particularly in Indian ICU settings. This study aimed to evaluate the incidence, risk factors, antifungal resistance, and clinical outcomes of bloodstream infections in comparison to non-auris Candida infections among ICU patients.

New biomarker panel was developed and validated on 165 critically ill adult patients to enable a more accurate invasive candidiasis (IC) diagnosis. Serum levels of the panfungal biomarker (1,3)-β-D-glucan (BDG) and the inflammatory biomarkers C-reactive protein, presepsin (PSEP), and procalcitonin (PCT) were correlated with culture-confirmed candidemia or bacteremia in 58 and 107 patients, respectively. The diagnostic utility was evaluated in sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV).

Of 1,040 case-patients with documented HIV status and in-hospital survival data, 426 (41%) were HIV-seropositive. The in-hospital case-fatality rate was 54% (228/426) for HIV-seropositive participants and 37% (230/614) for HIV-seronegative participants (crude odds ratio [OR] 1.
