OnabotulinumtoxinA for treating axillary hyperhidrosis requires a 2- to 3-mm depth of injection. This small depth is difficult to accurately estimate once the needle tip is in the skin. We have found that measuring 2 to 3 mm on the needle tip and then wrapping a piece of adhesive tape at that point acts as a depth guide.

Stainless-steel substrates have grown in importance in the development of planar sorptive phases. However, the reduced wettability of polished sheets makes difficult their functionalization. This limitation can be solved by using amorphous silica gel microparticles as superficial guides.

Adhesive tapes are often a subject of forensic examinations as they are frequently encountered in a variety of cases involving drugs of abuse, bombings, homicides, kidnappings, robberies, or sexual assaults. The analytical characterization of such adhesive tape evidence can be useful for assessing potential contact between the suspect, the victim, and/or the crime scene. However, adhesive tapes frequently serve as substrates for fingermarks, and the examination of these impressions takes precedence over the characterization of the tape due to the higher evidentiary value associated with fingermarks.

Low-surface-energy (LSE) materials, such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), are extensively used in advanced technologies like 5G chip production and base station filters, due to their hydrophobicity, chemical resistance, low friction, and excellent dielectric properties. However, their inherent chemical inertness and nonwetting nature pose significant challenges to achieving strong adhesion. In this work, we present a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) tape composed of fluorinated monomers and hydrophobic ionic liquids, synthesized through a one-step, scalable process.

Wood is a widely used carbon-storing material, but its applications are constrained by vulnerabilities to water, oil and fire. Existing coatings have limited functionalities, failing to meet the intelligent requirements of modern wood products and constructions. Inspired by bionics, a robust superamphiphobic fire sensing EP/F-POS@FeO coating was designed on wood substrate, fabricated from functional ferroferric oxide (FeO) particles, tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS, hydrolyzed into polysiloxane), 1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorodecyltrimethoxysilane (PFDTMS), and epoxy resin (EP) adhesive.

Enterobius vermicularis infection (enterobiasis) is a common intestinal parasitosis, typically characterized by perianal pruritus, and is most prevalent in children. Diagnosing enterobiasis in cognitively impaired individuals, who may not report typical symptoms, poses a diagnostic challenge. We report the case of an 86-year-old Japanese woman with cognitive impairment who was admitted for a tibial fracture.
