Introduction: Situation awareness (SA) training is a vital part of healthcare training, and opportunities to provide SA training to healthcare workers are limited in low- and middle-income countries. We aimed to analyze undergraduate medical and nursing students' perception of their understanding of SA through an interprofessional obstetric neonatal emergency simulation workshop (ONE-Sim) and subsequently evaluate their perceived changes in SA understanding using the Endsley model ( Hum Factors 1995;37(1):32-64).
Methods: Feedback on SA before and after the workshop was collected through questionnaire-based surveys. Thematic analysis was performed, with themes emerging from an inductive analysis followed by a deductive analysis using the Endsley model.
Results: The themes emerging from the inductive analysis included environmental awareness, evolving knowledge, skill development, and applicability to practice. These aligned with the 3 levels of SA in the Endsley model in the deductive analysis suggesting that participants transformed their perception, comprehension, and projection of SA after the workshop.
Conclusion: Simulation-based education enhanced SA perception in obstetric and neonatal emergencies for medical and nursing students in a low- and middle-income country, and the Endsley model is a feasible framework to measure learner perceived changes in SA understanding through simulation-based education.

Background: In ISCHEMIA (International Study of Comparative Health Effectiveness With Medical and Invasive Approaches), an invasive strategy demonstrated better health status outcomes than a conservative strategy in patients with chronic coronary disease (CCD). Some previous studies have shown greater health status benefits with coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) than percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Whether the health status benefits of invasive management in ISCHEMIA were driven primarily by participants treated with CABG is unknown.

The pathology of severe COVID-19 is due to a hyperinflammatory immune response persisting after viral clearance. To understand how the immune response to SARS-CoV-2 is regulated to avoid severe COVID-19, we tested relevant immunoregulatory cytokines. Transforming growth factor β (TGF-β), interleukin (IL)-10, and IL-4 were neutralized upon infection with mouse-adapted SARS-CoV-2 (CMA3p20), a model of mild disease; lung inflammation was quantified by histology and flow cytometry at early and late time points.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) typically presents as "macrovesicular steatosis", where each hepatocyte contains a large fat vacuole (30-50 µm), indicating a more indolent form. In about 20% of cases, "microvesicular steatosis" occurs, with smaller vacuoles (1-15 µm) linked to steatohepatitis, cirrhosis progression, and increased risk of liver cancer. Emerging quantitative ultrasound (QUS) liver fat quantification (QUS-LFQ) tools measure various acoustic properties, but few methods compare techniques and imaging modalities, and the impact of fat vacuole size remains unclear.
