The administration of combinations of drugs is a method widely used in the treatment of different pathologies as it can lead to an increase in the therapeutic effect and a reduction in the dose compared to the administration of single drugs. For these reasons, it is of interest to study combinations of drugs and to determine whether a specific combination has a synergistic, antagonistic or additive effect. Various mathematical models have been developed, which use different methods to evaluate the synergy of a combination of drugs. We have developed an open access and easy to use app that allows different models to be explored and the most fitting to be chosen for the specific experimental data: SiCoDEA (Single and Combined Drug Effect Analysis). Despite the existence of other tools for drug combination analysis, SiCoDEA remains the most complete and flexible since it offers options such as outlier removal or the ability to choose between different models for analysis. SiCoDEA is an easy to use tool for analyzing drug combination data and to have a view of the various steps and offer different results based on the model chosen.

Background: Parasite antigens and plasma lipopolysaccharide (LPS) levels from luminal origin in visceral leishmaniasis (VL) patients are correlated with cellular activation and low CD4+T cell counts.
Objectives: Our aim was to verify whether Leishmania infantum infection damages the intestinal barrier and whether combination antimonial/antibiotic contributes to the reduction of LPS levels and immune activation.
Methods: Golden hamsters were grouped in: G1-uninfected; G2-infected with L.

Gene signatures predictive of chemotherapeutic response have the potential to extend the reach of precision medicine by allowing oncologists to optimize treatment for individuals. Most published predictive signatures are only capable of predicting response for individual drugs, but most chemotherapy regimens utilize combinations of different agents. We propose a unified framework, called the chemogram, that uses predictive signatures to rank the relative predicted sensitivity of different drugs for individual tumors.

Introduction: While traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has a long history and continues to be widely practised, its overall clinical efficacy according to conventional scientific standards remains the topic of ongoing research and exploration. This review focuses on the potential use of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) in combination with Western medicine in Singapore, based on recently published data on the clinical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of these TCM treatments.
Method: We collated and summarised 71 research papers published in the past decade, focusing on randomised controlled trials, systematic reviews and population-based cohort studies that had a total sample size (treatment and control arms) exceeding 60.

Vascularization of implanted biomaterials is critical to reconstructive surgery and tissue engineering. Ultimately, the goal is to promote a rapidly perfusable hierarchical microvasculature that persists with time and can meet underlying tissue needs. We have previously shown that using a microsurgical technique, termed micropuncture (MP), in combination with porous granular hydrogel scaffolds (GHS) fabricated via interlinking hydrogel microparticles (microgels) results in a rapidly perfusable patterned microvasculature.

Atherosclerosis remains a leading cause of cardiovascular disease and mortality worldwide, despite advancements in statin therapies. Here, we aimed to identify potential anti-atherosclerosis drugs by an integrated approach combining network medicine-based prediction with empirical validation. Among the top drugs predicted by the preferred algorithm, mesalazine─a drug traditionally used to treat inflammatory bowel disease, was selected for in vivo validation in ApoE mouse model of atherosclerosis.
