Granulosa cell tumors (GCTs) are rare ovarian neoplasms, accounting for 2-5% of all ovarian cancers. Two histological types have been described: juvenile (JGCT) and adult (AGCT), the latter accounting for around 95% of the GCTs. AGCTs are mostly diagnosed at an early stage and commonly have a good prognosis.

Breast cancer (BC) represents a major socio-economic challenge worldwide due to its high morbidity and mortality rates. Despite various therapeutic strategies, the heterogeneity of breast cancer and the resistance of tumour cells often lead to treatment failure. Consequently, the use of animal models of BC is crucial for understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the different stages of carcinogenesis and for screening new drugs to assess their efficacy, potential safety and side effects.

Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is among the most prevalent human malignancies globally, with approximately 887,000 new cases diagnosed each year. Currently, the standard treatment for HNSCC involves surgery, followed by radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy. However, despite these available treatments, the survival rate of patients with HNSCC remains low.

Fumarate hydratase (FH) deficient uterine leiomyomas account for only 0.4 % of all uterine leiomyomas. They have some unique histological characteristics and can be linked to renal cell carcinoma (HLRCC) syndrome and hereditary leiomyomatosis.

Enhanced ISGylation via USP18 Isopeptidase Inactivation Fails to Mitigate the Inflammatory or Functional Course of Coxsackievirus B3-Induced Myocarditis.

Cell Physiol Biochem

September 2025

Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, corporate member of Freie Universität Berlin and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Institute of Biochemistry, 10117 Berlin, Germany.

Background/aims: The ubiquitin-like protein ISG15 and its covalent conjugation to substrates (ISGylation) represent a critical interferon (IFN)-induced antiviral mechanism. USP18 is an ISG15-specific isopeptidase and a key negative regulator of type I IFN signaling. While inactivation of USP18's catalytic activity enhances ISGylation and promotes viral resistance, its role in modulating inflammation and cardiac function during CVB3-induced myocarditis remains unclear.
