The tail of a pig can be positioned in various postures such as curled, straight out, hanging down or tucked against the body. The tail hanging down is suggested to be indicative of a negative emotional state in several situations. The objective of this study was to explore whether the hanging posture could also be used as an indicator of a negative emotional state in a novel situation.

Designing metabolically stable peptides to target interactions of the tumor suppressor protein p53 with the two oncogenic proteins MDM2 and MDMX represents an attractive approach to harvesting "high-hanging fruits" often inaccessible to traditional anticancer drug discovery and development efforts. Here, we report the design of a proteolysis-resistant d-dodecapeptide, termed PMI-ω (EFWYVEFEKLLR), capable of disrupting the p53-MDM2/MDMX complex by antagonizing MDM2 and MDMX. PMI-ω, upon fabrication on gold nanoparticles, efficiently traversed tumor cells and killed them by reactivating the p53 signaling pathway.

Background: Diagnosing drowning during post-mortem examination remains a challenging task due to the absence of any pathognomonic autopsy findings. Recent approaches have proposed quantitative indices, such as the Pleural Effusion Ratio (PE Ratio) and the Drowning Index (DI), to enhance diagnostic accuracy. The PE Ratio is defined as the weight of the pleural effusion divided by the combined weight of the pleural effusion and lungs, multiplied by 100.

Stiffness of ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs) has been assessed using many methods; however, results are unstandardized due to varied testing conditions such as range of motion and speed. Therefore, the aim of this scoping review was to provide a state-of-the-space review of the studies that investigate AFO ankle stiffness in the sagittal plane and then provide insight into the details of the developed devices and protocols. Six electronic databases (MEDLINE, SCOPUS, Web of Science, CINAHL, EMBASE, and IEEE Xplore) were searched for studies from when indexing began to April 2024.
