Investigating the early-stage emissions of formaldehyde/VOCs from building materials and their influencing factors.

Environ Technol

September 2025

School of Architecture and Urban Planning, Chongqing Jiaotong University, Chongqing, People's Republic of China.

As urbanization accelerates, the issue of pollutant discharge from building materials has become the focus of public attention. Conducted in a ventilated environmental chamber, the experiments investigated the emission characteristics of VOCs from dry and wet building materials, focusing on the influencing factors, such as temperature, relative humidity (RH), ventilation, and seasonality. The impact of influencing factors was quantified using a one-factor-at-a-time control method.

Chlorpyrifos (CPF), a widely used organophosphate insecticide in cotton cultivation for controlling Aphis gossypii, has Binodoxys communis as the primary parasitic natural enemy of A. gossypii. This study evaluated the impact of two sub-lethal CPF concentrations (LC10 and LC30) on key biological parameters across two generations, transcriptomic responses, and symbiotic bacterial communities in B.

Microplastics (MPs) and the plastisphere they form pose substantial ecological risks in aquatic environments and wastewater treatment processes. As a unique niche, the evolution of plastisphere in anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) systems remains poorly understood. This study investigated the physicochemical evolution of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) MPs and microbial succession within the plastisphere during a 30-day incubation with anammox granular sludge.

Introduction: The choice of analgesic technique for total knee arthroplasty affects its rehabilitation and surgical outcomes. This study evaluates this choice on short-term postoperative quality of life.

Methods: In this prospective observational study, patients were categorised into two groups: epidural analgesia or peripheral nerve blocks.

Purpose: Men with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) often experience erectile dysfunction (ED). While transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) can improve ED, new-onset ED remains a concern. This study compares monopolar (M-TURP) and bipolar (B-TURP) techniques, with a subgroup analysis based on phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor (PDE5i) use.
