Decreased 5-HT receptor binding has been associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and interpreted as a consequence of neuron loss. The purpose of the present study was to compare [ C]WAY100635 binding to the 5-HT receptor in the hippocampus, entorhinal cortex, amygdala and pericalcarine cortex in mild AD patients and elderly controls. AD patients (n = 7) and elderly control subjects (n = 8) were examined with positron emission tomography (PET) and [ C]WAY100635. PET data acquisition was performed with an ECAT EXACT HR system. Wavelet-aided parametric images of nondisplaceable binding potential (BP ) were generated using Logan's graphical analysis with cerebellum as the reference region. Correction for partial volume effects was performed with the Müller-Gärtner method. Regions of interest (ROIs) were applied to the individual parametric images, and the regional BP was calculated as the average parametric voxel value within each ROI. In addition to comparisons between subject groups, correlations between BP values and scores on the Mini-Mental State Examination, Disability Assessment for Dementia (DAD), and Neuropsychiatric Inventory were expressed by Pearson correlation coefficients. Mean regional BP was lower in AD patients than in control subjects, and the difference was statistically significant for the hippocampus, entorhinal cortex, and amygdala. A statistically significant correlation was obtained between hippocampal BP values and DAD scores. The results of the present study corroborate and extend previous findings of decreased 5-HT binding in AD and strengthen the support for 5-HT receptor PET as a tool for the assessment of neurodegenerative changes in mild AD.

This study aimed to evaluate the antidepressant potential of Nitazoxanide (NTZ), an antiprotozoal drug with known anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties, in a chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS)-induced mice model of depression. NTZ was administered at doses of 75, 150, and 300 mg/kg, and its effects were assessed through a series of behavioral tests, including the forced swim test, tail suspension test, actophotometer test, and social interaction test. NTZ treatment at 150 and 300 mg/kg significantly improved behavioral and biochemical outcomes, relieving depressive-like symptoms and restoring neurochemical balance.

Objective: To investigate the neural and molecular correlates of occupational burnout in nurses by integrating resting-state fMRI (rs-fMRI), clinical assessments, brain-wide gene expression, and neurotransmitter atlases.
Methods: Fifty-one female nurses meeting burnout criteria and 51 matched healthy controls underwent 3 T rs-fMRI. We analyzed fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (fALFF) and seed-based functional connectivity (FC), correlating findings with burnout (emotional exhaustion [EE], depersonalization [DP], and personal accomplishment [PA]).

Ketamine has been widely used as a recreational substance by adolescents and young adults in nightclubs and raves in an acute manner, especially during the weekend. Considering the scarcity of evidence on the harmful consequences of adolescent ketamine recreational use on the central nervous system, primarily related to motor function, this study aimed to investigate the behavioral, biochemical, and neurochemical consequences on motor function induced by ketamine use, evaluating the motor cortex, cerebellum, and striatum in early abstinence. Adolescent female Wistar rats (28 days old) received ketamine by intranasal route (10mg/kg/day) for 3 consecutive days.
