Article Abstract

Background: Increased incidence of central precocious puberty (CPP) after coronavirus infectious disease-19 lockdown has been reported. Our study aims in investigating changes in CPP rates and in sleep patterns in CPP and healthy controls.

Methods: CPP were retrospectively evaluated from April 2020 to April 2021. Parents of girls diagnosed with CPP during lockdown and of matched healthy controls filled out a questionnaire about sleep disturbances (SDSC questionnaire) and sleep schedules.

Results: Thirty-five CPP and 37 controls completed the survey. Incidence of new CPP cases significantly increased in 2020-2021 compared to 2017-2020 (5:100 vs 2:100, p = 0.02). Sleep disturbance rates did not differ between CPP and healthy controls before lockdown. During lockdown, CPP reported higher rates of sleep disturbs for total score (p = 0.005), excessive somnolence (p = 0.049), sleep breathing disorders (p = 0.049), and sleep-wake transition disorders (p = 0.005). Moreover, CPP group more frequently shifted toward later bedtime (p = 0.03) during lockdown compared to controls. Hours of sleep and smartphone exposure around bedtime did not differ between groups.

Conclusions: Our study confirms the observation of increased incidence of CPP after lockdown measures. Additionally, CPP showed higher rates of sleep disturbances and later bedtime compared to controls. The causality link between sleep disturbances and CPP should be further investigated to gain knowledge in this association.

Associations of cardiovascular health with arterial health in adults free of cardiovascular disease.

Am J Prev Cardiol

September 2025

Cardiovascular Division, Department of Medicine, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA.

Background: In adults without cardiovascular disease (CVD), there is limited understanding of the association between overall cardiovascular health (CVH) and arterial health.

Methods: In 2330 Framingham Heart Study Offspring participants free of CVD (60±9 years; 57% women) with Life's Essential 8 (LE8) and applanation tonometry data (Exam 7), we calculated CVH scores per American Heart Association's LE8 guidelines. Multivariable-adjusted regression analyses examined the relations of LE8 with aortic stiffness and pressure pulsatility [negative inverse carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (niCFPWV), central pulse pressure (CPP), respectively], and examined effect modification by age and sex.

Cycloparaphenylenes (CPPs) possess radial π-conjugation structures and host-guest capability. Herein, we report the synthesis of novel CPP analogues featuring a flexible ,-diphenyldihydrodibenzo[a, c]phenazine (DPAC) unit. These molecules feature adaptive cavities that enable efficient host-guest interactions with species such as [2,2]PCP.

Purpose: Gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists are the standard treatment for central precocious puberty (CPP). These agonists include leuprolide acetate and triptorelin pamoate, but research data for the relative effectiveness of these 2 treatments in overweight and obese girls experiencing CPP are lacking. In this study, we compared the effectiveness of these 2 therapeutics, leuprolide acetate and triptorelin pamoate, in the treatment of overweight and obese girls affected by CPP.

Clinical Placement Professionals (CPPs) are instrumental in seamlessly connecting academic learning with practical clinical experiences in nursing education. This paper describes the role, responsibilities, challenges, and recommendations for the CPP profession and explores how the utilization of CPPs across academic disciplines varies significantly, with diverse titles, team structures, and fundamental duties among schools of nursing and healthcare systems. As nursing program enrollments surge and clinical placements remain scarce, the value and standardization of the CPP role become paramount in increasing the number of adequately prepared nurses nationwide.

School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, University of Jinan, Jinan, China. Electronic address:

Background: Bisulfite (HSO) plays crucial roles in food safety and physiological health. In the food industry, sulfur dioxide (SO) and its derivative bisulfite (HSO) are extensively employed as preservatives and bleaching agents. Nonetheless, overconsumption of bisulfite can present health hazards like asthma and potentially cancer.
