Background: Endometriosis diagnosis is challenging due to non-specific symptoms that overlap with other gynaecological conditions. This study proposes a non-invasive Machine Learning (ML) ‒ based urine test using Attenuated Total Reflection Fourier Transform Infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy for rapid, high-throughput screening.

Methods: A total of 302 symptomatic patients presenting with pelvic pain and MRI referral indications were recruited.

Ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt placement is a common and effective intervention for managing hydrocephalus. While generally successful, this procedure can be associated with rare but serious complications, including cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pseudocyst formation. These loculated, epithelial-free fluid collections typically form around the distal catheter in the peritoneal cavity and are more commonly seen in pediatric patients.

Background: The ESCAPE-MeVO (Endovascular Treatment to Improve Outcomes for Medium Vessel Occlusions) and DISTAL (Endovascular Therapy plus Best Medical Treatment vs Best Medical Treatment Alone for Medium Vessel Occlusion Stroke) trials failed to demonstrate the superiority of endovascular thrombectomy over best medical management for medium and small vessel occlusions. Potential limitations of these trials include older patient populations, lower presenting National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores, higher rates of premorbid disability, delayed revascularization times, inclusion of both medium and small vessel occlusions, and widespread use of stent retrievers. Here we present M2 occlusion data from the Imperative Trial, evaluating aspiration thrombectomy with the Zoom System.

Introduction: Muscle MRI and electrophysiological exercise testing have been reported as useful techniques in hypokalemic periodic paralysis (HypoPP). Striking clinical differences between men and women with this disorder are well known; however, little information is available on complementary tests in the asymptomatic population.

Methods: We recruited 11 individuals with HypoPP from 4 independent families, carrying the frequent p.

Fatigue as main symptom in an elderly multiple myeloma patient: a Case Report.

Front Med (Lausanne)

August 2025

Department of General Medicine Practice, The Sixth Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China.

Introduction: The high prevalence of fatigue as an atypical clinical manifestation in general practice creates notable diagnostic challenges, particularly in geriatric patients.

Methods: We describe a case of an 80-year-old female presenting with fatigue, initially attributed to poorly controlled diabetes mellitus or upper respiratory infection, who was ultimately diagnosed with multiple myeloma after admitted to the Department of General Medicine at a general hospital. Initial diagnostic workup including physical examination revealed the presence of anterior thoracic mass with undetermined etiology.
