The impact of a red-fleshed apple (RFA) rich in anthocyanins (ACNs), a white-fleshed apple (WFA) without ACNs, and an extract infusion from fruit (AI) equivalent in dose of cyanidin-3-O-galactoside (main ACN) as RFA was determined by the proteome profile of aorta and heart as key cardiovascular tissues. Hypercholesterolaemic Wistar rats were separated into six groups ( = 6/group; three males and three females) and the proteomic profiles were analyzed using nanoliquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry. No adverse events were reported and all products were well tolerated. RFA downregulated C1QB and CFP in aorta and CRP in heart. WFA downregulated C1QB and CFP in aorta and C9 and C3 in aorta and heart, among other proteins. AI downregulated PRKACA, IQGAP1, and HSP90AB1 related to cellular signaling. Thus, both apples showed an anti-inflammatory effect through the complement system, while RFA reduced CRP. Regardless of the ACN content, an apple matrix effect was observed that involved different bioactive components, and inflammatory proteins were reduced.

Objective: Anastomotic pseudoaneurysms are complications of previous open aortic repair resulting from the loss of anastomotic structural integrity. Our goal was to describe surgical repair (open or endovascular) for these late complications and present early and long-term outcomes.
Methods: We identified 102 patients (median age, 61 y [range: 47-71 y]) who underwent 108 repairs to treat anastomotic pseudoaneurysm of the distal (ie, descending thoracic or thoracoabdominal) aorta; all patients previously underwent open distal aortic repair.

Background: Capecitabine, an oral prodrug of 5-fluorouracil, is widely used for gastrointestinal malignancies. While its coronary toxicity is well documented, large-vessel complications such as aortic dissection are rarely reported.
Case Summary: We present a 65-year-old man with colorectal cancer who developed Stanford type A aortic dissection 3 days after initiating adjuvant capecitabine therapy.

Background: Fulminant myocarditis (FM) is a rare but serious inflammatory disease of the heart that should be considered for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) supportive therapy when it occurs. The diagnosis of FM is made more difficult in the context of Marfan's syndrome combined with aortic root dilation. We report a case of a patient on ECMO support and with comorbid Marfan's syndrome who was finally diagnosed with FM after computed tomography angiography (CTA) differentiated between FM, coronary artery disease, and aortic root dilation.
