This study evaluated the safety and efficacy of tubeless patch pump called EOPatch in patients with well-controlled type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). This 4-week, two-center, open-label, single-arm study enrolled 10 adult patients diagnosed with T1DM with glycosylated hemoglobin less than 7.5%. The co-primary end points were patch pump usage time for one attachment and number of serious adverse events related to the patch pump. The secondary end points were total amount of insulin injected per patch and changes in glycemic parameters including continuous glucose monitoring data compared to those at study entry. The median usage time per patch was 84.00 hours (interquartile range, 64.50 to 92.50). Serious adverse events did not occur during the trial. Four weeks later, time in range 70 to 180 mg/dL was significantly improved (70.71%±17.14 % vs. 82.96%±9.14%, P=0.01). The times spent below range (<54 mg/dL) and above range (>180 mg/dL) also improved (All P<0.05). Four-week treatment with a tubeless patch pump was safe and led to clinical improvement in glycemic control.

In this study, we introduce a wearable, ultralow-power electrospinning glove that fabricates a cannabidiol (CBD)-infused microfiber. Unlike traditional electrospinning systems that require bulky equipment and input voltages on the order of tens of kilovolts, our lightweight, battery-operated device functions with a low input voltage of just 1 V DC. Central to the device is a needleless, ring-shaped spinneret incorporating convergent-divergent geometry within the distributed liquid nozzles, facilitating smooth fluid transitions and efficient acceleration of the polymer solution.

A 50-year-old woman required an emergent operative exploration after an unsuccessful attempt at bedside removal of a ruptured intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP). Initial fluoroscopy demonstrated that the IABP tip moved dynamically with blood flow, but retraction and advancement caused significant bowing of the proximal external iliac artery. After unsuccessful endovascular snaring and resheathing, an exploratory laparotomy was required to remove the entrapped IABP via a longitudinal external iliac arteriotomy.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) can lead to long-lasting cognitive deficits in the human brain, with a considerable contribution of secondary morphological and functional sequela in cortical regions distant to the lesion site. In order to uncover the role of early functional alterations in parvalbumin-positive basket cells (PV-BCs), an interneuron population required to maintain inhibition of neocortical circuits, to this dysfunctional plasticity, we investigated anatomical and electrophysiological properties of PV-BCs in PV-IRES-Cre-tdTomato mice of both sexes 24 h after a cortical impact. These experiments revealed that the number of PV-BCs was moderately decreased around the cortical impact site, while their morphology was unaffected.
