The red-fronted brown lemur (Eulemur rufifrons) is an important species to the function of Madagascar's ecosystems, contributing to critical ecological processes such as seed dispersal. Given its ecological, as well as cultural, importance, genomic resources for E. rufifrons are valuable for understanding evolutionary history and informing conservation strategies.

How terrestrial mean annual temperature (MAT) evolved throughout the past 2 million years (Myr) remains elusive, limiting our understanding of the patterns, mechanisms, and impacts of past temperature changes. Here we report a ~2-Myr terrestrial MAT record based on fossil microbial lipids preserved in the Heqing paleolake, East Asia. The increased amplitude and periodicity shift of glacial-interglacial changes in our record align with those in sea surface temperature (SST) records.

Coastal zones are critical for the biogeochemical cycling of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in marine ecosystems, yet the relative importance of photochemical and microbial degradation in DOM transformation remains poorly understood due to complex hydrodynamics, diverse sources, and human activities. Through 14-day laboratory incubations, we investigated DOM transformation mechanisms from three common marine coastal space uses: port, mariculture and inshore areas adjacent to Yantai City. DOM characterization was performed using fluorescence excitation-emission matrix parallel factor (EEM-PARAFAC) and UV-Vis spectroscopic indices.

Human parainfluenza virus 2 (HPIV-2) and human parainfluenza virus 4 (HPIV-4) are significant but underappreciated respiratory pathogens, particularly among high-risk populations including children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals. In this study, we sequenced 101 HPIV-2 and HPIV-4 genomes from respiratory samples collected in western Washington State and performed comprehensive evolutionary analyses using both new and publicly available sequences. Phylogenetic and phylodynamic analyses revealed that both HPIV-2 and HPIV-4 evolve at significantly faster rates compared to mumps virus, a reference human orthorubulavirus.

Monitored quantum circuits have attracted significant interest as an example of synthetic quantum matter, intrinsically defined by their quantum information content. Here, we propose a multipartite entanglement perspective on monitored phases through the lens of quantum Fisher information. Our findings reveal that unstructured monitored random circuits fail to exhibit divergent multipartite entanglement even at criticality, highlighting their departure from standard quantum critical behavior.
