Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a widespread chronic condition caused by immune responses involving immunoglobulin E (IgE) when exposed to airborne allergens. Purpose: Asthma and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are two respiratory diseases that often may coexist, resulting in Alternative Overlap Syndrome (aOVS), which is still underestimated and underdiagnosed.
Objectives: This state-of-art review aims to describe the current evidence on aOVS, including its pathophysiology, clinical, functional and therapeutic implications. A secondary objective is to assess whether aOVS can be identified as a distinct endophenotype needing personalized diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.

Background And Objectives: The impact of probable respiratory sarcopenia (RS) on the prevalence and incidence of chronic lung diseases (CLDs) in middle-aged and older adults remains poorly understood. This study utilized data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) to explore this association.
Methods: A total of 6,614 participants aged 45 and above were included in a cross-sectional analysis in 2011, and 5,630 participants were followed for 7 years for longitudinal analysis.

Chronic cough is a common clinical challenge and a leading cause of outpatient visits to respiratory clinics. In primary care settings, limited diagnostic resources and the absence of standardized evaluation protocols often result in misdiagnosis and suboptimal management. The present report presents the case of a 30-year-old woman with a >1-year history of persistent, non-productive cough unresponsive to initial anti-inflammatory and antitussive therapies.

Background/purpose: This study investigated the clinical and histological characteristics of oral mucosal lesions in children with acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) and Asthma (BA)-conditions that frequently coexist and exacerbate mucosal damage.
Materials And Methods: The rationale for the study stems from the lack of comprehensive data on the combined impact of these diseases on oral health. A total of 200 children aged 5-12 years were examined in a hospital setting and divided into 4 equal groups: children with ARVI (Group 1), children with Asthma (Group 2), children with both conditions (Group 3), and healthy children (control Group 4).
