Obesity is associated with hypothalamic-pituitary-testicular axis dysregulation in males. Here, we summarize recent evidence derived from clinical trials and studies in preclinical animal models regarding the role of androgen receptor (AR) signaling in the pathophysiology of males with obesity. We also discuss therapeutic strategies targeting the AR for the treatment of obesity and their limitations and provide insight into the future research necessary to advance this field.

Background: The appearance of pubic or axillary hair before the age of eight in girls or nine in boys, without other signs of puberty, is defined as premature adrenarche (PA) and may be an early sign of the metabolic syndrome. The second to fourth digit ratio (2D:4D), thought to reflect prenatal androgen exposure, has been associated with a variety of behavioral, metabolic, and hormonal conditions.
Objective: To evaluate the relationship between 2D:4D digit ratios and anthropometric, metabolic, and hormonal parameters in children with PA.

The protogynous orange-spotted grouper (), a sequentially hermaphroditic teleost, relies on dynamic regulation of germ cell development and sex reversal mechanisms to achieve reproductive plasticity. The gene family, pivotal for germ cell development and transposon silencing across metazoans, remains poorly characterized in hermaphroditic species. Here, we investigate , a homologue in the orange-spotted grouper (.

We report a rare case of breast and axillary metastases in a 75-year-old man diagnosed with prostate carcinoma. Initially, the patient presented with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and elevated prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels. Prostate cancer was confirmed by biopsy and treated with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) and radiotherapy.

Purpose: Both premature adrenarche (PA) and obesity are closely linked to increases in bone age (BA). However, the mechanisms underlying these associations are unclear as research data, particularly in boys, are lacking. Therefore, our aim in this study was to test for an association between obesity and BA progression in boys with PA and to assess the role of adrenal androgen in the mediation of any identified association.

Background: Hereditary angioedema (HAE) is a rare autosomal dominant disorder with a prevalence of 1:50,000 individuals. Delayed diagnosis and deaths from asphyxia still occur.
Objective: To identify knowledge and management gaps regarding clinical, genetic, and therapeutic aspects of HAE in Brazil, aiming to improve patient care and outcomes.
