Wearable airbag for powered two-wheelers: what is the profile of users involved in road traffic crashes and how does it affect their fatality risk?

J Safety Res

September 2025

Unité Mixte de Recherche Epidémiologique et de Surveillance Transports, Travail, Environnement (UMRESTTE), Gustave Eiffel University, Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University, Bron, France.

Background: Traffic fatalities within Powered Two-Wheelers (PTW) users are mostly due to head and thoracic injuries. This study assesses airbag use prevalence among PTW users involved in Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in France and aims to estimate airbag effectiveness in protecting against fatality risk.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using French national police crash data from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2022, including a total of 69,350 PTW users.

Association Between Body Composition and Obesity Phenotypes in Children and Adolescents.

Ann N Y Acad Sci

September 2025

Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, School of Public Health, Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, Guangzhou, China.

Assessment of influencing factors is critical for the management of different obesity phenotypes among children and adolescents. We investigated the association between body composition and metabolically unhealthy phenotypes independently or in an interaction with physical activity or sleep, among 7572 children and adolescents with normal weight or overweight/obesity from Guangzhou, China. High body fat percentage (BF%), trunk-to-limb fat ratio (T/L), waist-to-height ratio (WHtR), low soft lean mass percentage (SLM%), and appendicular skeletal muscle percentage (ASM%) were all associated with increased risk of metabolically unhealthy overweight/obesity (MUO) (odds ratios ranging from 1.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of 16 weeks of functional versus dual-task training on aspects of pain in older women with chronic nonspecific low back pain.

Methods: This randomized clinical trial included 38 participants aged 60 to 79 years divided into 2 groups: functional training (FT) and dual-task training (DT). We assessed pressure pain threshold (PPT), temporal summation of pain, conditioned pain modulation (CPM), trunk instability, isometric strength, and endurance of trunk muscles before and 16 weeks after training.

Phytophthora root rot caused by the hemibiotrophic oomycete, is a major biotic hindrance in meeting the ever-increasing demand for avocados. In addition, the pathogen is a global menace to agriculture, horticulture and forestry. Phosphite trunk injections and foliar sprays remain the most effective chemical management strategy used in commercial avocado orchards against the pathogen.

Background: Four-dimensional magnetic resonance imaging (4D-MRI) holds great promise for precise abdominal radiotherapy guidance. However, current 4D-MRI methods are limited by an inherent trade-off between spatial and temporal resolutions, resulting in compromised image quality characterized by low spatial resolution and significant motion artifacts, hindering clinical implementation. Despite recent advancements, existing methods inadequately exploit redundant frame information and struggle to restore structural details from highly undersampled acquisitions.
