Introduction: Deficits in theory of mind (ToM) can vary depending on the predominant schizophrenia symptoms, and though most neurocognitive functions are involved in ToM, all may not be associated with the same symptoms. With consideration to the relationships between symptoms, neurocognition and ToM, the aim of the present study is to identify the neurocognitive functions influencing ToM capacities according to symptomatic profile.
Methods: The study is based on a sample of 124 adults with schizophrenia from a French national cohort. Patients were divided into two groups according to their scores on the five Wallwork factors of the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale using hierarchical clustering before carrying out multivariable analyses.
Results: The "disorganised group" ( = 89) showed high scores on the disorganised factor, and had a ToM associated with , and . The "positive group" ( = 35) showed high scores on the positive and depressive factors, and had a ToM associated with .
Conclusions: These results suggest that neurocognitive predictors of ToM in schizophrenia are different according to the predominant clinical dimension, thus refining our knowledge of the relationship between symptoms, neurocognition and ToM, and acknowledging their status as important predictors of patients' functional status.

Background: Telomere length (TL) is a valuable marker of aging and stress that reflects both genetic and environmental influences. Quantitative PCR (qPCR) TL measurement is a powerful and cost-effective assay, especially in population studies with limited quantities of source material. Nevertheless, collecting and transporting high-quality blood samples can be logistically challenging, and research suggests that several preanalytical and analytical factors can influence the reliability and precision of the qPCR assay.

Objective: To study the polymorphism of 5 single nucleotide substitutions (SNPs) of the protocadherin gamma () and genes, previously identified as a haploblock on chromosome 5 (chr5:140757301-140940025) and associated with the risk of ischemic stroke (IS) in patients of Western European origin, in a cohort of IS patients from the Russian ethnic group.
Material And Methods: Determination and study of allelic variants of 5 SNPs (rs17603019, rs11575963, ; rs251021, rs397327 and rs17524736;) was carried out in a group of IS patients and a control group, which included 331 and 222 subjects, respectively, 55 years of age or older. The functional recovery of patients after a stroke was assessed according to a modified Rankin scale.

Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension requires referral to an expert center for final diagnosis and assessment of treatment possibilities by a multidisciplinary team. Pulmonary endarterectomy is the only potentially curative therapy and therefore remains the treatment of choice. However, many practices and minor technical aspects of this procedure may still provoke controversy.

Background: Osteoporosis is a systemic bone disorder. This study examined the association between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) genes and osteoporosis risk in a Taiwanese population.
Methods: A total of 67,410 participants from the Taiwan Biobank were classified as normal (n = 39,939), osteopenia (n = 22,449), or osteoporosis (n = 5022) according to WHO criteria.

Neurodegeneration is increasingly recognized not as a linear trajectory of protein accumulation, but as a multidimensional collapse of biological organization-spanning intracellular signaling, transcriptional identity, proteostatic integrity, organelle communication, and network-level computation. This review intends to synthesize emerging frameworks that reposition neurodegenerative diseases (ND) as progressive breakdowns of interpretive cellular logic, rather than mere terminal consequences of protein aggregation or synaptic attrition. The discussion aims to provide a detailed mapping of how critical signaling pathways-including PI3K-AKT-mTOR, MAPK, Wnt/β-catenin, and integrated stress response cascades-undergo spatial and temporal disintegration.
