Background: Heart failure (HF) is a leading cause of hospitalization and mortality, and it poses a significant burden on healthcare systems globally. Obesity is a considerable risk factor for HF and contributes to increased cardiac stress and metabolic demands.
Methods: Data from the CDC WONDER database were examined from 1999-2020 for HF and HF with obesity-related mortality in adults aged 25 years and older at the time of death, using ICD-10 codes.

Objective: To systematically review the evidence on, to devise clinical recommendations for, and to identify critical knowledge gaps in resuscitation of newborn puppies and kittens.
Design: Standardized, systematic evaluation of literature pertinent to newborn resuscitation following Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) methodology. Prioritized questions were reviewed by Evidence Evaluators, and findings were reconciled by Domain Chairs and Reassessment Campaign on Veterinary Resuscitation (RECOVER) Co-Chairs to arrive at treatment recommendations commensurate with the quality of evidence, risk-benefit relationship, and clinical feasibility.

It is unknown how many children with obesity are offered treatments aligned with clinical practice guidelines. This study examined electronic medical record data from a Midwest, USA, health system to quantify referrals to obesity treatment among patients 2-17 years old with obesity presenting for well-child visits in 2022 and/or 2023. Mixed-effects logistic regression models tested associations of referral placement with child characteristics, the Area Deprivation Index, and distance to specialty care.

Background: Smoking and obesity are leading causes of preventable morbidity and mortality, often co-occurring and synergistically increasing risks for cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) are effective for managing type 2 diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease, and emerging evidence suggests potential benefit for smoking cessation. However, the prevalence of GLP-1 RA indications and prescriptions among adults who smoke is unknown.

Copper can be toxic to aquatic organisms at high concentrations and has been previously used successfully to control zebra mussels (Dreissena polymorpha). Because copper's toxicity changes with water chemistry, using the same copper concentration in different waterbodies could yield different outcomes. We demonstrate how measuring water chemistry parameters and using the Biotic Ligand Model (BLM) and multiple linear regression (MLR) models can predict a suitable, site-specific copper concentration for management.
