Background: Non-technical skills (NTS) curricula have demonstrated success in surgical residencies. The purpose of this study is to examine the need for a structured leadership curriculum at our institution.
Methods: A needs-assessment survey analyzing the importance of leadership domains, previously validated by Kazley et al. was delivered to 240 general surgery staff. Respondent groups were broken down into: Attendings, Residents, and Multi-Disciplinary. Statistical analyses were conducted using Cronbach's Alpha (α = 0.9259) and Fisher's exact test (pre-set p-value = 0.05). The importance of each competency was compared among groups and importance was defined as >75% important and very important responses.
Results: Nineteen of 33 competencies were important for all groups, including 3 with 100% importance: interpersonal communication, team-work, and problem-solving. Several competencies showed statistically significant differences among groups.
Conclusion: A diverse range of surgery staff agreed that 19 leadership domains are important to teach residents, with some variance among respondent groups.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (hereafter respectfully named Indigenous) Australians are diagnosed with some cancers substantially more frequently than non-Indigenous Australians implying a different risk factor landscape. Additionally, poorer outcomes for certain cancers are exacerbated by lower cancer screening rates and later diagnoses compared to non-Indigenous Australians. An improved understanding of cancer causation would allow better shaping and targeting of screening programs for those at the highest risk.

Objective: To assess the ability of large language models (LLMs) to accurately simplify lumbar spine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) reports.
Materials And Methods: Patients who underwent lumbar decompression and/or fusion surgery in 2022 at one tertiary academic medical center were queried using appropriate CPT codes. We then identified all patients with a preoperative ICD diagnosis of lumbar spondylolisthesis and extracted the latest preoperative spine MRI radiology report text.
This paper presents a systematic literature review (SLR) on integration of robotics in hospitals and home-based educational settings. These schools provide essential educational environments that uphold children's right to education during prolonged illness. The review explores flexible didactic design, time adaptation, and personalized teaching approaches that are crucial in these contexts.
