A deoxidizing packing material (DPM) with an encapsulated deoxidizing agent (DA) was developed to construct the packed anodes of a trickle-bed microbial fuel cell (TB-MFC) for treating waste gas. The encapsulated DA can consume O in waste gas and increase the voltage output and power density (PD) of the constructed TB-MFC. The DPM effectively enables the circulating water in TB-MFC for maintaining a low level of dissolved oxygen for 80 h. The results revealed that when the concentration of isopropanol (IPA) in waste gas was 0.74 g/m, the TB-MFC (DPM with DA) exhibited an IPA removal efficiency (RE) of up to 99.7%. When DPM with DA was used as the packing material of the TB-MFC (486.6 mW/m), the PD was 2.54 times that obtained when using coke as the packing material (191.6 mW/m). The next-generation sequencing results demonstrated that because the oxygen content of the MFC anode chamber decreased over time in the TB-MFC, the richness of anaerobic electrogens (Pseudoxanthomonas, Flavobacterium, and Ferruginibacter) in the packing materials was increased. These electrogens mainly attached to the DPM, and IPA-degraders appeared in the circulating water of the TB-MFC. This enabled the TB-MFC to simultaneously achieve a high voltage output and IPA RE.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the performance of 3D-printed denture base resins (DBRs) compared with conventionally printed DBRs, examine their biofilm formation and physical properties, and determine the viability of 3D-printed DBRs as a superior alternative in removable prosthodontics.
Methods: The DBR samples were fabricated using traditional packing (TRA), milling (MIL), and 3D printing (3DP) methods. All samples were serially polished with an abrasive paper.

In the modern era, polymyrcene, a sustainable polymer made from renewable resources, offers a potential path towards the advancement of green products. Here, we successfully created and characterized the first-ever all-bio-based composite films using cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) made from agricultural waste, polylactic acid (PLA), and polymyrcene. Environmentally acceptable substitutes for traditional polymer composites have been made possible by incorporating CNCs into the PLA-Polymyrcene matrix, which produced materials with improved structural and functional qualities.

Inspired by "the composition of catechol and amine groups in the adhesive proteins" of marine mussel and "brick-and-mortar" structure of nacre, we use polydopamine (PDA) as "mortar", graphene oxides (GO) nanosheets as "brick", and Pd ions as interfacial reinforcer, to fabricate nacre-like Pd enhanced PDA functionalized GO membranes (Pd@PDA/GO) with vacuum filtration-assisted assembly method. Meanwhile, in situ reduced Pd nanoclusters by PDA chains were well constrained within the resultant Pd@PDA/GO artificial nacre composites. Good interfacial adhesion with dense packing of the GO nanosheets was further confirmed with sub-nano level microstructure characterization by positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy.

In whitlockite-type compounds, the Eu ion can emit in a wide region from blue to yellow, but its luminescent mechanism remains unclear. Here, we performed a topological crystallography analysis of the whitlockite structure and first clarified the origin of the blue narrow emission band. Specifically, close-packing theory was used to reveal the topological character of β-Ca(PO) and describe its evolution from (PO) ( = Ba, Sr).

The present review summarizes recent information on the formation and fine structure of epidermal microornamentation and adhesive setae in scale pads of the tail in some arboreal geckos. The study utilizes transmission and scanning electron microscopy, in conjunction with immunolabeling, to detect the main proteins of the microornamentation, known as Corneous Beta Proteins. These are special small proteins with a central region containing beta-sheets that form most of the corneous material of scales and pads.
