Uric acid to HDL ratio (UHR) is a new measure of inflammation that has been widely used to study cardiovascular disease relationships. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between uric acid to HDL ratio and hypertension. We found that UHR was positively associated with hypertension prevalence in a nationally representative sample of U.

Recombinant proteins have been widely applied in the food, biomedical, and scientific fields. Prokaryotic expression systems are preferred platforms for recombinant protein production due to their rapid growth and high protein yields. Nevertheless, disparities between recombinant expression environment and native physiological conditions frequently result in protein misfolding, leading to aggregation into non-functional inclusion bodies or proteolytic degradation.

Controlling the formation of electron polarons in TiO doped with transition metals is important for the design of transparent conducting oxides for high-efficiency photovoltaics and photocatalysts with tunable reaction selectivities. In this work, EPR spectroscopy is combined with Hubbard-corrected density functional theory (DFT+), with refined atomic-like Hubbard projectors, to show the sensitivity of charge compensation in substitutionally doped Nb-TiO and W-TiO with respect to the TiO polymorph (, anatase or rutile). Both EPR magnetic tensors and DFT+predicted Nb 4 and W 5 orbital occupancies show the formation of differing dopant charge states depending on the TiO polymorph, with nonmagnetic Nb and W in doped anatase and paramagnetic Nb and W in doped rutile.

Self-assembly is regarded as a facile method to fabricate luminescent nanomaterials with aggregation induced emission (AIE) properties for optical sensor design. In this work, a pH-controlled self-ratiometric sensing platform utilizing aggregation-induced emission (AIE)-active Au(I)-TCEP-Cd(II) nanoaggregates was developed for highly reliable D-penicillamine (DPA) detection. Through stoichiometric coordination with Cd, oligomeric Au(I)-tris(2-carboxyethyl)phosphine (TCEP) complexes could self-assemble into snowflake-like nanoaggregates (∼100 nm) with strong yellow emission (540 nm) and excellent aqueous stability.

Loss-of-function mutations in the gene cause β-catenin deficiency, resulting in CTNNB1 syndrome, a rare neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by motor and cognitive impairments. Given the wide variety of mutations across and its dosage sensitivity, a mutation-independent therapeutic approach that preserves endogenous gene regulation is critically needed. This study introduces spliceosome-mediated RNA -splicing as a novel approach to restore β-catenin production.
