Background: Millions of children, particularly in low and middle-income countries, are deprived of a comprehensive vaccination schedule. The advent of the COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated this issue by significantly disrupting vaccination schedules and other critical health initiatives. In light of this challenge, our study sought to evaluate vaccination coverage and identify its determinants among children aged 12-23 months in southern Ethiopia during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Autoantibodies against β-cell components in the pancreatic islets of Langerhans are characteristic of type 1 diabetes (T1D). The genetic and autoimmune determinants of type 1 diabetes (T1D) in Ethiopians are not yet thoroughly characterized, with studies indicating a lower occurrence of autoantibodies related to T1D compared to Caucasians. The study aimed to determine the occurrence of autoantibodies related to type 1 diabetes (T1D), celiac disease (CD), and autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD) in conjunction with Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) genotype in Ethiopian children and adolescents with T1D.

Background: Inappropriate child-feeding practices lead to child morbidity and mortality in many countries around the world. In many low- and middle-income countries, mothers often lack access to appropriate child-feeding counseling services within healthcare settings. While several studies have examined recommended infant and child feeding practices, there is insufficient information regarding the accessibility of child-feeding counseling services in Ethiopia.
