Cases of intergeneric introgression have been poorly studied. That is why the mito-nuclear discordance in the tribe Clethrionomyini has been confusing and attracted our special attention. The phylogenetic position of the subgenus Aschizomys of rock voles (Alticola) has long been debated: a discussion that has resurfaced after early phylogenetic studies on cytochrome b placed Aschizomys with Clethrionomys (red-backed voles).

Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) is a chronic autoinflammatory skin disease of the terminal hair follicle, whose pathogenesis is complex and multifactorial. Alongside a predisposing genetic background, environmental/epigenetic factors, alterations in the skin microbiome, and dysregulation of both innate and adaptive immune responses contribute to the persistent inflammatory network. Despite advancing knowledge, the exact molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying HS have yet to be untangled.

Introduction: The surgical volume indicator measures surgical activity within a population, but it does not fully untangle the details behind the statistical indicator. As health systems evolve and countries develop economically, the types of surgeries performed, providers, and levels of healthcare facilities may provide a richer understanding of changes in surgical activity. This research studied surgical activity in four diverse settings by analyzing initial data to assess trends in patient characteristics, surgical staff, case distribution, level of care, and anesthesia practices, forming the basis for a "surgical transition" framework.

The Arctic tundra biome is undergoing rapid shrub expansion ('shrubification') in response to anthropogenic climate change. During the previous ~2.6 million years, glacial cycles caused substantial shifts in Arctic vegetation, leading to changes in species' distributions, abundance and connectivity, which have left lasting impacts on the genetic structure of modern populations.

In migratory species, the temporal phases of the annual cycle are linked to seasonally shifting geographic ranges. Despite intense interest in the annual cycle ecology of migratory species, a synthetic understanding of the relationship between the biogeography of the migratory annual cycle and its phenology remains elusive. Here, we investigate the spatiotemporal structure of the annual cycle in a phylogenetic comparative framework by developing a method to demarcate the pacing of annual cycle stages using eBird, a massive avian occurrence dataset, and applying it to migratory passerine birds breeding in North America.
