Background: There is no non-invasive objective assessment tool to measure keloid scar characteristics over time. This study aimed to ascertain the ability of the Antera 3D camera to detect differences in keloid features pre- and post-steroid injection. In order to identify whether those variation could be considered as treatment response predicting factors.
Methods: Enrolled patients received three intra-lesional steroid injections at four-weekly intervals. Images were taken with the Antera 3D camera 12 and 24 weeks after treatment. Keloids' colour, volume, and area as well as haemoglobin and melanin average levels and variation have been analysed pre- and post-steroid injection. t Tests and relative risk have been used to analyse the significance and association strength of our finding.
Results: Forty patients have been enrolled in the study. Significant changes as been recorded in keloids' volume and colour after steroid injection (P < 0.05). 53% have recorded a Hb reduction showing no recurrence of pathology, patient who had increase in Hb showed an early recurrence. Melanin variation was significant after steroid injection (P < 0.05) but no correlation has been found with treatment response.
Conclusions: The Antera 3D camera is able to detect differences in the investigated keloid's features helping in two ways: by providing an objective, longitudinal method to monitor and document changes in scar morphology, and through monitoring haemoglobin change, which strongly correlates to both response to treatment and likelihood of recurrence. Allowing clinicians to identify which patients will respond early, in order to change treatment if necessary, limiting morbidity and costs.

Spirulina is considered a superfood due to its chlorophylls. Two new methods for the determination of chlorophylls and β-carotene were developed here, one based on in-tube solid-phase microextraction (IT-SPME) coupled online to nanoliquid chromatography (nanoLC) with diode array detection (DAD), and the other on ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-vis DRS). A protocol to extract the pigments from spirulina was proposed using ethanol (1.

Background: Bridge preparation skills are a vital component of dental education and require specific techniques. This study aimed to develop and evaluate 3D printed teeth for use in defect-oriented bridge preparation and pre-prosthetic exercises in dental training, addressing the limited customization and lack of integrated workflows found in commercial typodont teeth. The null hypothesis stated that 3D printed teeth offered no advantage over established typodont training methods for bridge preparation.

Background: The increasing amount of data routinely collected on ICUs poses a challenge for clinicians which is aggravated with data-heavy therapies like Continuous Kidney Replacement Therapy (CKRT). We developed the CKRT Supporting Software Prototype (CKRT-SSP), a clinical decision support system for use before, during and after CKRT. The aim of this user experience (UX) study was to prospectively evaluate CKRT-SSP in terms of usability, user experience, and workload in a simulated ICU setting.

This article presents a new set of semantic feature production norms, collected from 580 young adults, for 360 French concepts across various semantic categories. Although empirically derived feature norms have been developed for several languages and have been shown to be useful for investigating semantic memory and providing assessment tools, none are currently available for native French-speaking populations. In this study, the participants performed a property generation task in which they were asked to list features to describe the characteristics of each given concept (e.

A multi-indicator framework was developed to resolve multi-source pollution in highly urbanized rivers, demonstrated in the Qinhuai River Basin, Nanjing, China. Water quality index (WQI) stratification was integrated with dissolved organic matter (DOM) fluorescence components, hydrochemical ions, and conventional parameters and analyzed using positive matrix factorization (PMF). Correlation analysis further elucidated source compositions and interactions.
