The fundamental cause theory posits social factors as causes of disease as they encompass access to important resources such as knowledge, wealth, and social networks. While these social factors have been consistently associated with oral and systemic diseases, causality remains unestablished. Here, we estimated the causal effect of social adversity, comprising low economic and social capital, on the development of (1) oral conditions (OC) and (2) multimorbidity including oral conditions (MIOC) in a cohort of middle-aged and older adults over a 7-y period and assessed whether effects varied by age or gender.

Objective: Since legalization in 2018, older Canadians' use of cannabis has increased steadily, yet little is known about their perceptions of cannabis. We aimed to determine cannabis usage, and characterize perceptions of safety, effectiveness and stigma in community dwelling older Canadians.
Method: Canadians aged 50 years and older were invited to participate in an electronic survey of their experience with cannabis and perceptions of cannabis safety, effectiveness, and stigma.

Background And Objectives: Cerebrovascular reactivity (CVR) is an indicator of cerebrovascular health, and its signature in familial frontotemporal dementia (FTD) remains unknown. The primary aim was to investigate CVR in genetic FTD using an fMRI index of vascular contractility termed resting-state fluctuation amplitudes (RSFAs) and to assess whether RSFA differences are moderated by age. A secondary aim was to study the relationship between RSFA and cognition.

Purpose: Wearable sensors that track physical activity in daily life may offer insights that help healthcare providers optimize care plans for individuals with cancer. Therefore, we examined the links between lower health-related fitness and worse patient-reported health and various step-based metrics.
Methods: The Alberta Moving Beyond Breast Cancer Study enrolled 1,528 women recently diagnosed with breast cancer and measured health-related fitness and patient-reported health outcomes near diagnosis, and one year later.
