Article Abstract

Unlabelled: Learning objectives: 1. To understand the log-rank test and limitations of the log-rank test in comparing survival between groups. 2. To understand the fundamental concepts of the proportional hazards assumption. 3. To understand basic steps in the development of the Cox proportional hazards model and reported hazard ratios. 4. To understand how results of a Cox model run using STATA© (a commonly used proprietary statistical software) can be understood and interpreted.

Supplementary Information: The online version contains supplementary material available at 10.1007/s12055-020-01108-7.

Background: Frailty is a dynamic condition that may affect mental health. This study aimed to investigate the associations of frailty and its changes with the risks of depressive symptoms across multiple regions in aging populations.

Methods: Data were drawn from five cohort studies in the United States, England, Europe, China, and Mexico.

Immune Response Subphenotyping to Predict Mortality in Sepsis: A Prospective Study in Resource-Limited Setting.

Crit Care Explor

September 2025

Division of Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases, Department of Internal Medicine, Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo National General Hospital, Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia, Jakarta, Indonesia.

Importance: Sepsis remains a leading cause of death in infectious cases. The heterogeneity of immune responses is a major challenge in the management and prognostication of patients with sepsis. Identifying distinct immune response subphenotypes using parsimonious classifiers may improve outcome prediction, particularly in resource-limited settings.

BackgroundWomen have a higher risk of dementia than men. Reproductive factors may be implicated.ObjectiveDetermine the association between reproductive factors (earlier menarche, later menopause, longer reproductive lifespan (RLS), post-menopausal hormone replacement therapy [pmHRT] use, and serum estradiol/estrone) and neurocognitive and neuroimaging markers of brain aging and incident dementia in cognitively healthy women.

Background: Statin therapy lowers the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) among people with HIV (PWH). Residual risk pathways contributing to excess MACE beyond low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) are not well understood. Our objective was to evaluate the association of statin responsive and other inflammatory and metabolic pathways to MACE in the Randomized Trial to Prevent Vascular Events in HIV (REPRIEVE).

Background: Experience with icodextrin use in children on long-term peritoneal dialysis is limited. We describe international icodextrin prescription practices and their impact on clinical outcomes: ultrafiltration, blood pressure control, residual kidney function (RKF), technique and patient survival.

Methods: We included patients under 21 years enrolled in the International Pediatric Peritoneal Dialysis Network (IPPN) between 2007 and 2024, on automated PD with a daytime dwell.
