Trichoscopy is an efficient, convenient, and accurate diagnostic dermatological procedure which is widely used in the examination of patients with skin diseases. Herein, we report a 56-year-old woman with a long-term history of rheumatoid arthritis complaining of pruritic patchy alopecia on her scalp who was referred for biopsy to exclude cutaneous lupus erythematosus. Taking advantage of trichoscopy, we were able to quickly diagnose tinea capitis. Following administration of the proper treatment the disease resolved completely.

Introduction: Cutaneous scalp metastases from breast carcinoma (CMBC) represent an uncommon manifestation of metastatic disease, with heterogeneous clinical presentations, including nodular or infiltrative lesions and scarring alopecia (alopecia neoplastica). The absence of standardized diagnostic criteria, particularly for alopecic phenotypes, poses challenges to early recognition of CMBC, which may represent either the first indication of neoplastic progression or a late recurrence.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed a multicenter cohort of 15 patients with histologically confirmed CMBC.

Trichodynia is the sensation of pain in the scalp, which, in most cases, is associated with certain types of alopecia. Despite being a term coined by Rebora back in 1996 to described patients with diffuse alopecia consistent with telogen effluvium, this symptom has currently been reported in other entities. Androgenic alopecia, scarring alopecia, alopecia areata, trichotillomania, and chemotherapy-induced alopecia are common causes of trichodynia.
