Aims: The number of hip fractures is increasing, with significant mortality and morbidity, particularly among frail and comorbid patients. Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) pathways have proven effective in elective orthopaedics, but this has not been investigated in people with hip fractures. This study aimed to identify current perioperative practice and develop a cohesive ERAS pathway tailored for hip fracture patients, to standardize and optimize care.

Glyphosate (GLY) is the most widely used herbicide globally. Despite concerns regarding its potential adverse effects on human health and the environment, its use continues to grow each year. Following application, a substantial proportion of glyphosate infiltrates the soil, where it can degrade into transformation products such as aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA), which is much more persistent than the parent compound.

Background: Genetic variants in cardiomyopathy genes are associated with risk of atrial fibrillation (AF), although data on clinical outcomes for AF patients with such variants remain sparse.
Objectives: We aimed to study the prognostic implication of rare cardiomyopathy-associated pathogenic variants (CMP-PLP) in AF patients from large, well-phenotyped clinical trials.
Methods: CMP-PLP carriers were identified using exome sequencing in 5 multinational trials from the Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction study group (ENGAGE AF, FOURIER, SAVOR, PEGASUS, and DECLARE), with replication in the EAST-AFNET-4 trial.

Background: Pontine volume previously emerged as a sensitive MR marker to track disease progression in SCA1. To accept this marker as a surrogate clinical trial endpoint, long-term follow-up is necessary to confirm its sensitivity to change and to establish its predictive validity.
Objective: (1)Confirm the sensitivity to change in pontine volume after two years and identify predictors of volume reduction, and (2)to evaluate the predictive value of one-year changes in pontine volume on subsequent clinical progression after two years.
