Background: Previous studies indicate that hippocampal (subfield) and amygdala volumes may correlate with specific cognitive functions, coping strategies and emotion regulation. Here, we investigated associations between emotional processing and volumes of hippocampal subfields and amygdala. We focused on depressed patients since emotional dysregulation and hippocampal volume shrinkage are characteristic of them.

Introduction: Health professionals may be susceptible to misusing alcohol due to stress and burnout. This is especially true in states with high alcohol consumption. Health care organizations can implement evidence-based policies, programs, and solutions that identify, address, and help prevent adverse outcomes and burnout for health workers.

It highlights changes in surgical approaches, including a growing focus on minimally invasive and function-preserving procedures, as well as the increasing consideration of postoperative quality of life (QOL).
Methods: Two nationwide questionnaire surveys were conducted in 2014 and 2021, targeting members of the Japanese Society for Gastro-surgical Pathophysiology.

We reviewed the current status and perspectives on salvage esophagectomy for initially unresectable locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) in the era of minimally invasive surgery and immunotherapy. Although the standard treatment for these patients is definitive chemoradiotherapy (CRT), the complete response rate to CRT alone remains unsatisfactory. Salvage esophagectomy, which is defined as surgery for residual or recurrent lesions after definitive CRT, is considered a curative treatment in clinical practice.

Introduction: Current commercial cerebral oximeters only monitor the frontal lobes, however, some cerebrovascular territories may experience ischemia while others remain well perfused. This pilot study used a novel, high-density, dual-wavelength, time-resolved functional cerebral oximeter (Kernel Flow) with 2000 channels to assess the regional differences of cerebral oxygenation (StO2) in response to hypotension across different vascular territories during shoulder surgery in the beach chair position.
Methods: Twenty-seven adult patients were monitored, recording blood pressure, heart rate, regional cerebral oxygen saturation, and other vital parameters.
