Article Abstract

Background And Objective: Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) and Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) are progressive ailments resulting from androgenic imbalances and aging that can lead to serious long term complications. Objective of this study was to determine the relationship between prostate-specific antigens and testosterone hormone levels in patients with BPH before transurethral surgery.

Materials And Methods: This case control study was done on 112 serum samples collected from two secondary care centres in Khartoum, Sudan. Collected serum samples were analyzed by ELISA and fluorescence enzymes immunoassay to measure testosterone, total PSA level and free PSA levels, respectively.

Results: Out of 112 patients, 56 BPH diagnosed patients were included in the study with mean age 67.10±7.90 years. Total PSA (T. PSA) levels were higher in patients (14.1±10.6 ng mL-1) than the control group (2.21±1.01 ng mL-1). Total 52% of patients had total PSA level in the gray zone (4-10 ng mL-1) and 33% had total PSA more than 10 ng mL-1. Testosterone levels were low in patients 3.97±2.84 ng mL-1 when compared to the control group 4.95±0.59 ng mL-1.

Conclusion: The present study revealed that, there was a strong association between T. PSA level and testosterone hormone in BPH patients, which suggested that monitoring of testosterone level is useful in patients with prostate enlargement.

Introduction: The introduction of novel robotic platforms has expanded surgical options for robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP). However, comparative outcomes with da Vinci multiport (MP) system remain unclear. This systematic review and network meta-analysis aimed to compare perioperative, early oncological, and functional outcomes of RARP performed with novel robotic platforms versus the da Vinci MP system.

Animal studies indicating an association of exposure to extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields (ELF-EMFs) and noise with reproductive dysfunctions. Nonetheless, the potential impacts of exposure to these hazardous agents on the human prostate gland remain unidentified. To assess the relationship between co-exposure to ELF-EMF and noise and the levels of prostate-specific antigen (PSA), a longitudinal study was conducted over eight years among workers at a thermal power station from 2016 to 2024.

Importance: Black individuals have a twofold higher rate of prostate cancer death in the US compared with the average population with prostate cancer. Few guidelines support race-conscious screening practices among at-risk Black individuals.

Objective: To examine structural factors that facilitate or impede access to prostate cancer screening among Black individuals in the US.

Introduction: Psoriatic arthritis (PsA), ankylosing spondylitis (AS), and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are common chronic inflammatory diseases, with some clinical similarities and differences. mRNAome analysis provides a valuable approach to understanding disease pathogenesis. To elucidate the underlying mechanisms of similarities and differences among these inflammatory diseases, we analyzed the commonly and specifically expressed mRNAs in the whole blood of patients with PsA, AS, and RA.

Objective: To explore the role of prostate health index (PHI) and its derivatives for early screening in patients with PI-RADS score 3 and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels of 4-20 μg/L.

Methods: Clinical data of 203 patients with a score of 3 on the PI-RADS v2.1 scoring system who underwent ultrasound-guided transperineal prostate aspiration biopsy from April 2021 to April 2024 from Provincial Hospital of Shandong First Medical University, Qilu Hospital of Shandong University and Weifang People's Hospital were collected.
