Cloperastine hydrochloride, a piperidine derivative, is a drug substance with a central antitussive effect and widely used in cough treatment; and its impurities have not been reported. Herein we isolated and identified five impurities (named as impurity A, B, C, D and E) in cloperastine hydrochloride bulk drug and developed a quantitative HPLC method. First, impurity A, B, C were enriched by ODS column chromatography and isolated by semi-preparative HPLC, at the same time, impurity D was purified by ODS column chromatography. Then, impurity E was enriched by strong acid degradation and purified by semi-preparative HPLC. At last, their structures were characterized by a variety of spectral data (MS, H NMR, C NMR, HSQC, HMBC and H-H COSY). Impurity A was confirmed as 1-[2-(diphenylmethoxy)ethyl]piperidine, which having one less chloro-substituent compared with cloperastine. Impurity B was confirmed as 1-[2-[(2-chlorophenyl)(phenyl)methoxy]ethyl]piperidine, which was the isomer of cloperastine with 2-chloro-substituent. Impurity C was confirmed as 1-[2-[(3-chlorophenyl)(phenyl)methoxy]ethyl]piperidine, which was the isomer of cloperastine with 3-chloro-substituent. Impurity D was confirmed as (4-chlorophenyl)(phenyl)methanone, which was the raw material for the synthesis of cloperastine. Impurity E was confirmed as (4-chlorophenyl)(phenyl)methanol, which was an intermediate in the synthesis of cloperastine, and it was also a hydrolysate of cloperastine. Finally, the developed method was validated in terms of specificity, linearity, sensitivity, precision and accuracy.

Organophosphorus nerve agents (OPNAs), including G-agents, EGA (ethyltabun, phosphonamidic acid, P-cyano-N,N-diethyl-, ethyl ester) and V-agents, VM (O-ethyl S-(2-diethylaminoethyl) phosphonothiolate), are highly toxic chemical warfare agents (CWAs) with severe risks to human health and environmental security. This study proposes a chemometric-driven framework for forensic tracing of their synthetic pathways using high-resolution GC × GC-TOFMS. By integrating advanced statistical analysis, we identified 160 synthesis-associated chemical attribution signatures (CAS) for EGA and 138 process-specific CAS for VM, with 11 overlapping markers, including ethoxyphosphates and diethylaminoethylamine derivatives.

Quantum-confined perovskites represent an emerging class of materials with great potential for optoelectronic applications. Specifically, zero-dimensional (0D) perovskites have garnered significant attention for their unique excitonic properties. However, achieving phase-pure, size-tunable 0D perovskite materials and gaining a clear understanding of their photophysical behavior remains challenging.

In this study, a liquid chromatography method was developed and validated for the accurate determination of carvedilol content while minimizing interference from impurity C and -formyl carvedilol and allowing precise impurity analysis. The reliability of the method was verified through key parameters such as linearity, precision, accuracy, and stability, ensuring robust performance in the detection and quantification of carvedilol and related impurities. And, the method was tested under varying conditions, including changes in the flow rate, initial column temperature, and mobile phase pH.

Hard entropy limits of impurity doping prevent further miniaturization of low nanoscale silicon-based very large scale integration (VLSI) devices, thereby obstructing the path toward more energy-efficient VLSI designs with higher yield in compute power. As demonstrated here by synchrotron UV photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS) and X-ray absorption spectroscopy in total fluorescence yield mode (XAS-TFY), intrinsic Si at the bottom of the nanoscale (i-nano-Si) turns into strong p- or n-Si by embedding in silicon nitride (SiN) or silicon dioxide (SiO), respectively. The associated Nanoscale Electronic Structure Shift Induced by Anions at Surfaces (NESSIAS) creates a p/n junction in i-nano-Si by the quantum-chemical impact of SiN- vs SiO-coating, providing energy landscapes to accumulate electrons (holes) when SiO- (SiN-) coated, with free charge carriers provided by metallic interconnects.

Enteric fever caused by remains a critical public health challenge due to rising incidence and increasing antimicrobial resistance. The development of effective polysaccharide conjugate vaccines targeting Salmonella Paratyphi requires high-purity O-antigen polysaccharide (PS) conjugated to immunogenic carrier proteins. This study optimized a robust and scalable purification-conjugation methodology, specifically tailored for O-antigen from Initial purification utilized ultrafiltration via tangential flow filtration (TFF), followed by sequential cation- and anion-exchange chromatography steps, significantly reducing protein, nucleic acid, and endotoxin contaminants.
