Relationship Between Total 25-Hydroxyvitamin D and Parathyroid Hormone Concentrations During Early Gestation in Indian Women.

Nutrients

A high prevalence of vitamin D deficiency (VDD) during early pregnancy has been reported globally, along with a high risk of adverse pregnancy and birth outcomes. The present cut-off to diagnose VDD during pregnancy is <20 ng/mL of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin-D (25(OH)D) concentration, but there is a lack of consensus on this value. We evaluated this diagnostic cut-off specifically during early pregnancy among apparently healthy Indian women.

Falls constitute a significant public health concern, demanding innovative solutions that transcend traditional methodologies. Current falls practice focuses on reactive post-fall assessment and management rather than proactive prevention and mitigation. We propose that millimetre-wave radar technology for real-time, continuous falls risk screening at home may address the limitations of current falls practice.

Background: Corticosteroid treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS) relapses is assumed to improve the speed of relapse recovery, without modifying long-term disability risk. We aimed to re-evaluate this assumption in a large cohort of individuals with MS.

Methods: Individuals with clinically definite MS and ≥3 Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) measurements over ≥12 months were identified within the international neuroimmunology registry MSBase.

Atom-at-a-Time Radioactive Molecule Identification: Looking toward Studies of Superheavy Elements.

J Phys Chem A

July 2025

Nuclear and Chemical Science Division, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Livermore, California 94550, United States.

The chemical behavior of superheavy elements (SHEs, > 103) remains poorly understood. Their chemical properties are expected to deviate from established trends, challenging the predictive power of the periodic table. To investigate these elements experimentally, they must first be synthesized through nuclear reactions and then quickly subjected to chemical studies before they decay.
