With approximately 90% of industrial reactions occurring on surfaces, the role of heterogeneous catalysts is paramount. Currently, accurate surface exposure prediction is vital for heterogeneous catalyst design, but it is hindered by the high costs of experimental and computational methods. Here we introduce a foundation force-field-based model for predicting surface exposure and synthesizability (SurFF) across intermetallic crystals, which are essential materials for heterogeneous catalysts.

Pharmaceutical contaminants reaching natural aquatic ecosystems can affect fish behaviour, modifying activity patterns, foraging behaviour and antipredator responses. While laboratory-based studies can offer key insights, assessing the ecological relevance of these findings requires field-based approaches. Therefore, we examined the effects of oxazepam, a widely prescribed anxiolytic drug, on the behaviour of a cyprinid fish (the common roach, ) in the wild, combining slow-release exposure implants with continuous tracking via acoustic telemetry.

Food spoilage poses a global challenge with far-reaching consequences for public health, economic stability, and environmental sustainability. Conventional analytical methods for spoilage detection though accurate are often cost-prohibitive, labor-intensive, and unsuitable for real-time or field-based monitoring. Microfluidic paper-based analytical devices (μPADs) have emerged as a transformative technology offering rapid, portable, and cost-effective solutions for food quality assessment.

Objectives: Strategies to reduce Achilles tendon forces during running may be beneficial for injury prevention. Increasing ground contact time could reduce Achilles tendon forces during running but may also elicit changes in cadence that could offset these reductions. The purpose of this study was to determine if changing ground contact time altered Achilles tendon forces during running, with both a fixed and a free cadence.
